Metamorphic rock
Rocks that have been changed because of changes inHeatPressure Or the presence of hot, watery fluids
Can be formed from igneous, sedimentary, or other metamorphic rocks
Metamorphic rock
The pressure comes from the rock layers above
The heat increases as you go through the layers
Each type of metamorphic rock can come from several kinds of parent rockExample- sedimentary rock – shale will change
to slate but when more pressure is applied then it can change to phyllite, then schist, then gneiss

When the mineral grains line up in parallel layers
Slate- used as a roofing material because it is watertight
Foliated rocks
No layersSandstone becomes QuartziteLimestone becomes Marble
