Third Culture < “A new culture that two or more individuals from different cultures can share which is not merely the fusion of the separate cultures, but a new coherent whole.”
Third Culture < “Children in expatriate families who reside outside of their home culture… integrate elements of home culture and cultures of residence into a third, distinct culture.”
Third Culture Kids are said to be understanding of other cultures, more curious, and more able to learn new languages quickly.
Horace Kallen coined the idea of cultural pluralism to define the United States, which then morphed into multiculturalism.
“Multicultural people respect other cultures and traditions and tolerate
differences."
