    Cost Definitions

    Hard Costs: The physical costs for the constructionof a Project, including all building and landscapingmaterials.

    Soft Costs: The non-physical costs that go into aproject. This includes architectural, engineering feelegal fee etc

    Operation & Maintenance cost: Cost associatedwith operating the facility throughout its life. Itincludes utility bills, minor upgrades, maintenanceof equipment etc.

    Life-Cycle Costs(LCC): The sum of all costsover the full life span of the building. Thisincludes purchase price, installation,operation, maintenance and upgrade costs.

    LCCA is a method for assessing the total costof facility ownership.

    Takes into account all costs of acquiring,owning, and disposing of a building or buildingsystem.

    LCCA is useful to evaluate alternatives like high performance HVAC system, glazing system etc which have higher initial cost but reduced operational
