CHAPTER IINTRODUCTIONNowadays, web - based systems is commonly used by every company and institution, schools and one of this is the Student Information System (SIS). It is a convenient way of storing and retrieving information of a student that provides more easy way in compiling all the information of the student. While, Management Information System (MIS) focuses on the management of information systems to provide efficiency and effectiveness of strategic decision making. Management Information System (MIS) may include systems termed transaction processing system, decision support systems, expert systems, and executive information system. Some of MIS contents are overlapping with other areas such as information system, information technology, informatics, e-commerce and computer science. Therefore, the MIS term sometimes be inter-changeable used in above areas. But, we prefer to use the term Student Information System (SIS) rather than Management Information System (MIS) because what we are proposing is for the school of Mindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School (MPAS) which was privately owned and privately managed. 1.1 Project ContextMindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School (MPAS) Student Information System is a web-based system/ software designed to introduce a conducive and structured information exchange environment for integrating students, parents, teachers and the administration of a school. This web-based systems enable educational institutions to supervise student-related activities such as keeping record of test, quizzes or examinations conducted, appraisal on performance including details of marks scored, and all other institution-related activities; in short, they provide a student records system. They are designed with diverse application potentials ranging from simple management of students records at school to management of all student-related functions as well as administrative functions of a chain of educational establishments.This Mindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School (MPAS) Student Information System is professional and academic discipline concerned with the strategic and operational activities involved in the gathering, processing, storing, distributing and use of information of all the students. Specifically, this web - based record system is complementary networks of hardware/software that the schools administrator use to collect, filter, process, create and distribute data of the students.

1.2 Project DescriptionAll parents want to make sure that they are well updated with the status of their children. This web-based system monitors each student's performance as well as view grades, class schedules, assessments, class status, assignments, quiz, test and any other school activities. This system assist schools in keeping records of students and their information. The parents will also have an option if they would like to subscribe online for daily update of their child. 1.3 Objectives of the ProjectMindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School (MPAS) Student Information System is a student-level data collection system that allows the department to collect and analyze more accurate and comprehensive information. Mindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School (MPAS) Student Information System provide capabilities for capturing student records, and managing other student-related data needs in a primary school.

To make the web-based system/software of Mindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School (MPAS) Student Information System usable for the primary school.

To access the students records and get the desired information which may require.

To increase data accuracy, make student information management more secure, effective, convenient and accessible.

To coordinate information across the system to simplify student access to school resources.

To let the students learn and demonstrate the standards of professional behavior, including rules of ethics and etiquette.

To let the students demonstrate the ability to extend the current knowledge and skills.1.4 Scope and Limitations of the Project1.4.1 Scope of the Project Students Record Management includes identifying, classifying, storing, securing, retrieving, tracking and destroying or permanently preserving or saving records. Admissions admitting or allowing users: staffs, teachers, students and parents for their permissions. Scheduling & Events allow administrator to make schedules for students and different events or activities in advanced to let the students and parents know it earlier.

Grade Book tool that allows instructors to list course assignments and corresponding student scores, and calculate, store, and distribute grade information to students online. Courses can be graded on letter grade, simple letter grade, or pass/fail scales. Report reporting and submitting weekly updates and progress of the students to their parents. Student Connect/Login allowing students to login using their ID and password. Parent Connect/Login allowing parents to login using also their ID and password to obtain resources or information. Quiz, Test, Activities Module allows the teacher to design and build quizzes, test and activities consisting large variety of questions type, including multiple choices, true-false, and short answer questions for the students 1.4.2 Limitations of the Project Enrollment Form and Process Cashier or Payments/Fees ManagementOne of the limitations of the project was the enrollment form and its processes because it is difficult to enroll online and its not appropriate to the school were proposing to, the (MPAS) or Mindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School. Otherwise, cashier and the payment/fees management are the other limitations of the project because payments is also connected when you tackled enrollment. And when you say payments, it was difficult to pay online right away when you were trying to enroll.1.5 Significance of the ProjectThe impact and quality of Mindoro Pinamalayan Anglo School (MPAS) Student Information System on IT Industry is that it will give a lot of good compliments because of having its remarkable and helpful way for others like a primary school. In Business and Offices this systems quality is the easy and convenient way of storing files of each students every now and then that will reduce the effort of admin and staff. For students, the significance of this system is that they can access their assignments and grades. And for our team, it will give us a lot of experience and learnings every step of our way.
