    Waste

    7

Plastic waste is a threat to our planet

    when it enters the environment.

  • ®™Trademark of The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) or an affiliated company of Dow

We believe in plastic for a circular world – whereby from design to disposal, the value of plastic is retained, while the burdens placed on the environment are eliminated.

This three-part strategy represents our commitment to finding ways in which we can continue to provide the positives of plastic, while ensuring that none of thatplastic ends up in theenvironment or is lost to landfill.

    When people think of

    plastic packaging, they’re

    not thinking about

    convenience, food safety

    and health.

    They’re thinking about

    sea turtles, birds and

    mammals eating or

    getting entangled in

    plastic trash.

waste (more than nine pounds per

    person).

    In collaboration with the Ocean

Conservancy, Dow is leading an effort to

In India, we helped to transform more than

100 metric tons of flexible plastic waste

into material used to build longer-lasting

    roads with equally long-lasting

    environmental benefits.

We’ve constructed two roads in Freeport,

Texas, using 1,683 pounds of PCR

    (equivalent to nearly 120,000 plastic

    grocery bags).

In Latin America, we’re working with

    stakeholders that transform waste into

    durable bricks and building materials

    for homes.
