Contact name, Back in December, I made note of an article in U.S. News and World Report that outlined what trends to expect in 2015 — in particular, the generational shifts in real estate homebuyers. It’s interesting to read the story again this far into the year. The main point: REAL ESTATE IS ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE A GENERATIONAL CHANGE. According to U.S. News and World Report, baby boomers are downsizing: “With fewer homes underwater, they’re finally in a position to sell.” While that generation is downsizing, millennials are about to take over the housing market. “By the end of 2015, millennial buyers will represent the largest group of homebuyers, taking over from Generation X,” says Stan Humphries, chief economist for Zillow.
