Settlement Settlement • What is settlement? Settlement is a place where people live.

• How/Why are settlements changing? Settlements change a lot because the function of cities are

changing.

-Less Houses-Less Cars-A lot of Empty Spaces-Less people-Farming

In Beijing (year 1900), there were fewer cars, houses and people. Beijing was really a quiet city. Also, it was dispersed pattern in 1900.

-More cars-More houses-More people -Nucleated-Farming

In the year 1950, there were more cars, houses and people than 1900.Also, the pattern of the settlement changed into nucleated. However, people still worked on farming.

-A lot of cars-A lot of houses & people-New buildings-Apartments -A lot of fun things to do -More jobs

Over 50 years, Beijing grew up which means it changed a lot. A lot of people started settle in this city and there are many cars and houses too. They started to build tall, great and big buildings and apartments.

In year 1900, Seoul was really a quiet and there were a lot of empty spaces. Also, in that year, there were some wars between South Korea and North Korea, so most of houses were thatched houses that people could move easily and quickly. It was really different from now.

The year of 1950 in Seoul, it changed a lot because there was more cars and houses. Most of thatched houses changed into apartments. Also, people built a lot of buildings. Besides, in year 1950 were many different kinds of transportation.

Seoul is the capital city of South, Korea. It changed a lot and also it became famous. There are a lot of new buildings, houses, apartments and cars. Even though, there were many wars between South and North Korea. This city developed.

In year 1900, there was small amounts of people in Sydney. Also, there were some houses and old transportation. Also, the function of Sydney was port and market town.

I am living in Beijing but I didn’t really know about settlement of this city. I could realized that it changed a lot. Also, nowadays, Beijing became a modern and great city but Chinese government said Beijing is still developing and they want to make this city to be the best city.

I am from Seoul, South Korea, so I chose this city. Researching about Seoul was pretty fun and easy to me because I already knew about Seoul’s settlement. However, I was surprised when I found the picture of 1900’s. Also, I learnt so

many things about Seoul.

I chose Sydney because I wanted to know about Sydney which is the capital city of Australia. Also, in 2000 the Olympics was held in Sydney so it was easy to find out the differences between over 50 years. I learnt the pattern of this settlement changed a lot.

Conclusion

“No Settlement remains the same forever.
