GLULAM BEAMSGlulam beams are being used for a variety of construction purposes where strengthand clear unsupported spans are key factors.

Beams are manufactured using timber laminations of Whitewood Spruce bondedtogether with waterproof and weather resistant glue.

As a result Glulam beams -

• can be curved to shape during manufacture

• have strength properties twice that of standard timber

• are lightweight yet have superior strength to weight ratio over structural steel

• are fire-resistant - fire self extinguishes itself unless beam exposed to directflame

For our Softwood Mouldings we do notbuy our timber from wholesalers orimporters, instead we select primegrade, slow grown Redwood Pine, andbuy direct from the forests andsawmills in Northern Scandinavia. After importing it direct to our mill inEdenbridge we further grade and machine it. This process means we keep a tightcontrol over the supply, quality and consistency of our timber.

Our selected Redwood Pine softwood gives you strength and stability for excellentcutting, shaping and appearance

• The low knot content reduces preparation time and wastage.

• Every piece of timber is kiln dried so it is less likely to warp.

• Our machining produces a super-smooth finish.

And as we import directly we never run out of stock. Also, because there are nomiddlemen it means we give you the very best timber at a competitive price.

Champion & the EnvironmentWe take our environmental responsibilities seriously and are careful to verify thatour sources meet the highest standards.

When timber is purchased responsibly it is actually the most eco-friendly buildingmaterial available. It does not require huge amounts of energy to create (likebricks and concrete) and creating buildings from timber actually locks in carbonfrom the atmosphere.

We use rigorous verification systems to monitor our supplies. We have chain ofCustody Certification for the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and Programmefor the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Our suppliers are also independently audited as part of the Responsible PurchasingPolicy (RPP) of the Timber Trade Federation and Forests Forever.

Champion Innovations that make your life easierNo. 1 The Relief and Glue GrooveTake a look at the back of our larger single-sided skirtingsand architraves and you will see a special groove. This grooveincreases the dimensional stability of the moulding while alsoacting as a channel into which you can apply adhesives likeGripfill. Using this groove to apply adhesive means you get acloser fit to the wall.

No. 2 The Bevelled BottomBevelled bottoms are used on our single-sided skirtingsbecause they give a much tighter floor to wall fit, especiallywhere there is difficult to remove corner debris.
