Reid Hospital & Health Care Services - Richmond, IndianaAngie Dickman, Vice President - Chamber Board Chairwww.ReidHospital.org • Chamber Member Since 1978

Angie Dickman is the 2011 Chair of the Chamber Board. She is Vice President at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services responsible for radiology, home medical equipment and retail, as well as special programs such as regional market expansion, physician practice alignment and physician recruitment. Dickman started at Reid as the Director of Business Development. Angie says there are many exciting things

happening at Reid Hospital. They are currently completing their new Cancer Center scheduled to open in the fall. The Cancer Center will integrate the medical and radiation treatment centers and will include a state-of-the-art linear accelerator that is among very few in the U.S. They have recruited new physicians to the community that will be very patient focused. Reid was also recently honored to be named

among Thomson and Reuters Top 100 Hospitals in the country. Reid has approximately 2100 employees of which about 55% are clinical. And they boast one of the strongest volunteer forces in the country numbering over 400. Chamber service was a natural connection for her to make since Reid fi rmly believes in community partnerships and fostering a strong business presence. She says the Chamber was a great chance to learn more about the community and contribute to its success. Dickman is also involved with her kids at Seton Schools and has been involved with Birth to Five and Tri Kappa in the past. Angie and her husband, Dan (Kesslers), have three children.

Tim Lakoff founded Lakoff Construction Services in 2003, but he’s been in the construction business for over 25 years. He wanted to be a local contractor that could serve the Eastern Indiana – Western Ohio area in a cost effective way with honesty, integrity and quality. Lakoff works at building relationships with his customers and subcontractors to create an effi cient network with an attitude of service. Their mission includes

West End Bank - Richmond, Hagerstown & Liberty, IndianaTim Frame, Senior Vice President

www.westendbank.com • Chamber Member Since 1975

Tim Frame started in banking with Second National Bank in 1985 while he was working on his degree in business administration at IU East. He has been at West End Bank for 8 years. He is now Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Offi cer and Senior Retail Manager. West End has approximately 68 employees. From tellers and customer service reps to operations and management, the staff is customer focused and community minded. Frame says he chose West End Bank because he is a strong supporter of community banking and the mission and philosophy at West End. The organization sets an expectation for community involvement by employees. Each month, employees are recognized for their community service. They receive “logo bucks” that can be exchanged for

bank logo wear. The Chamber Board is one of Tim’s choices for community engagement. He believes the Chamber is an effective way to impact the business community and in turn the employment outlook. He also serves on the Circle U board and has served as treasurer for the Cappa for Sheriff Campaign as well as various United Way campaigns. “Tim is an asset to the bank and community. He’s talented, hardworking and professional. We’re proud to have him on our team,” says John McBride, West End Bank President and CEO. Tim is married with 3 children. His wife Cherie is a nurse practitioner at Reid Hospital and an adjunct faculty member at IU East. Their son Andy (also an IU East alum) owns and operates Frame’s Lawn Care and Snow Removal Service.

Wetzel Family Auto Cruise - Richmond, Indiana - OhioLynn Wetzel, President/COO – Chamber Board Memberwww.wetzelauto.com • Chamber Member Since 1998

Everyone has a fi rst job story. Lynn Wetzel was a millwright at $2.65 per hour. He knew he wanted something else and arrived at car sales so he could be in control of his earning potential. Starting with Mercedes Benz and Fiat in 1973 and his fi rst dealership in 1982 until today with the family dealerships selling Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Hyundai & Jeep; Lynn has been in the car business 38 years. The key word in the business name is “family” and it truly is a family business. Lynn’s children

(Nick and Jera) and their spouses (Melissa & Terry) are all a part of the business. Nick and Jera are the majority owners of the Ford, Hyundai and Chevrolet dealerships. The Wetzel’s and Schwer’s moved to our community in 1998 from Pittsburgh after looking across the country for a dealership and a community they could call home. Today, Wetzel has 160 employees ranging from sales and service technicians to business offi ce and customer service staff. The family has made their mark on

the community through service as well. They support the American Cancer Society and Community Kitchen and especially believe in supporting our youth. They are a corporate sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club. And in partnership with the Chamber and First Bank, the Wetzel’s have supported the School is Cool initiative celebrating students with perfect school attendance. Lynn is serving on the Chamber Board because he believes anything we do individually or collectively to help the community grow benefi ts all of us. He appreciates the efforts to work with existing business for growth and is supportive of the Chamber’s regional efforts. He notes that approximately 30% of his business comes from Ohio and any effort to build this region benefi ts all of us.

Golden Engineering - Centerville, IndianaRoger Golden, President – Chamber Board Member

www.goldenengineering.com • Chamber Member Since 1990

Roger Golden, President of Golden Engineering, admits many people haven’t heard of his company even though it’s been in Wayne County for 30 years. Golden Engineering has developed and produces battery-powered, portable x-ray equipment. Most of their customers are worldwide (70 different countries). Any given year 30-50% of their sales are exports. Though, most of the applications are security related, they get used in light industrial applications and in archeological applications as well as on large zoo animals. Their product will x-ray through 2” of steel and with the digital imaging technology developed through their sister company, Logos Imaging, the tool is safe, inexpensive and easy to use. That is probably why the units are used on the Alaskan pipeline Golden is another long standing family businesses. Roger’s Dad (John) founded the company in 1973 in Michigan. John and Roger’s Mom (Mary) decided they wanted to

raise their family closer to home and moved to Greens Fork in 1981 then Centerville in 1991. Roger took over as President of the company when his father passed away in 2009. Roger’s brother Phillip is an engineer with the company and sister Brenda is an accountant. Brenda’s husband Doug works at the company and Mary Golden still works in the offi ce. Golden loves being part of this community. They feel blessed with the quality of people working for them. They have employees that have been with them for 30 years. They appreciate the Midwest work ethic and being perfectly placed between several major airports makes their required travel more convenient. Roger says the Chamber Board is an excellent way for him to stay connected to the business community. He also volunteers for Junior Achievement and with Christ Presbyterian church. He and his wife Anna have 3 children.

The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce through a “School is Cool” initiative promotes education with major support from two corporate sponsors; First Bank Richmond and Wetzel Family Auto Cruise. School is Cool recognizes K-12 students who achieve perfect attendance for an entire academic year. Each student who completes the academic year with perfect attendance will once again receive an award from the Chamber courtesy of First Bank Richmond. These awards will be presented in conjunction with other awards and recognitions at each school. School is Cool has three primary objectives.

1. Promote the importance of education to students, parents, and the community at large 2. Encourage all students to develop good work ethic, aspire to achieve perfect attendance and graduate from high school 3. Highlight the important connection between showing up ready to learn on time for school every day as a young person with showing up ready to work on time every day as an adult The Chamber believes there is a direct relationship between educational achievement among our children and quality of life in our community. The world is ever changing and ever challenging, and we believe the next generation will

need to be life- long learners to face the competition. A common need for Chamber member businesses during a struggling national and regional economy is employees with strong work ethic and good math and reading skills. Education is more important than ever! Any person who enters the workforce whether starting a business, or being a valued part of a team will be required to do their best every day. This means arrive on time, well rested with a good attitude, be able to work well with others, and put forth the extra effort necessary to get the job done. An amazing addition to the School is Cool initiative began last year. This year, Wetzel Family Auto Cruise will once again host a ceremony for graduating seniors. All eligible graduates with perfect attendance for the 2010 – 2011 academic year will be invited with their family members and friends to fi nd out who will win either a new car or a scholarship of equal value to the car! Watch for more information on this exciting celebration. Thank you to the area school corporations for participating in the School is Cool program. Thank you to First Bank Richmond and Wetzel Family Auto Cruise for supporting the kids by promoting education in such a big way.

Your Chamber has action commit-tees that are created to represent major areas of interest for the business community. There are also various opportunities for you to get involved with special event committees throughout the year.

Business & EducationAction CommitteeThis committee serves as a think tank, planning table, and a support vehicle for implementa-tion of the Chamber’s Business Education Liaison Program. The Program includes, but is not limited to activities related to business-education partner-ships such as the creation of an internships database, the Chamber’s Workforce Educa-tion Information and Referral Service, School is Cool, Career Day, and forums and network-ing events intended to bring business and education together. Grow Local – Buy Local Action CommitteeThis committee helps promote Chamber member businesses and service providers and the high quality agribusiness, manu-facturing, retail and professional services available to consum-ers locally. This committee assists (1) in promotion of local Chamber member businesses and service providers in positive ways, (2) in generation of up-beat communications about the many positive economic conse-quences of buying and securing services locally, (3) in effect serve as the Chamber’s retail business committee, and (4) in updating the print and elec-tronic publication highlighting Wayne County Area Chamber member builders, and (5) the Chamber staff in establishing and carrying out program link-ages (such as the new Chamber Gift Certifi cate program) be-tween consumers and Chamber member local businesses and service providers.
