2012 Fall Festival – September 28 and 29!
Because of Belgrade High’s home football game schedule, the Fall Festival will be the last weekend in September, again coinciding with Homecoming. Although it is a week later than usual, it doesn’t conflict with an MSU home football game.
Several of the Fall Festival committees need help. Thank you to those who responded to the previous e-mail. The Park Activities Chair still needs a helper, mainly on the 28th and 29th and maybe a little prep work before. The Fall Festival committee is also looking for ideas for the theme for this year’s festival, so e-mail [email protected] if you have any ideas. Sponsorship forms are included in this newsletter or on the Chamber web-site. Sponsors are needed for Advertising, BBQ, Inflatables, and the Grand Prize for the raffle. A raffle recipient has not yet been chosen.
For more information about Fall Festival, contact the Chamber at 388-1616.

The Board of Trustees provides gov-ernance for the Belgrade Communi-ty Library by establishing policy, setting goals, hiring the Library Di-rector, establishing and monitoring the annual budget, signing neces-sary contracts, and exercising such other powers necessary for the ef-fective use and management of the library.
Applicants should have an interest in the library and its services, an ability to contribute adequate time for effective participation in Board activities and decision making, and an ability to represent varied needs and interests of the community at large and the library. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; an ability to work with governmental bodies, agencies, and other libraries; and an ability to handle opposition and make decisions in the interest of library service are essential.
The Board of Trustees meets month-ly at a time convenient to members. Meetings generally last about 1 to 2 hours, are generally held at the library, and are usually on a week-day. Special meetings or committee meetings may be called as necessary at times convenient to members as well as to comply with open meeting
laws. Board members are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council to 5-year terms (or to complete an unexpired term). Members can serve no more than two full terms in succession.
To apply for a position on the Board or for more infor-mation, contact Gale Bacon, Library Director, or ask for an application at the circulation desk of the Bel-grade Community Library.

Be Kind to Your Eyes
July is Eye Injury Prevention Month. Every day workers suffer an estimated 2,000 eye injuries on the job. These eye injuries often cost workers their sight and in turn cost employers and insurance companies millions of dollars every year. Many factors contribute to eye inju-ries on the job. Many workers do not wear eye protec-tion at all, which accounts for nearly three out of five eye injuries. The most prominent causes of eye injuries are from flying particles or contact with chemicals.
While eye injuries are common on worksites, they are easy to prevent. Always wear effective eye protection. OSHA standards require that employers provide work-ers with suitable eye protection. Be kind to your eyes and practice these safety procedures in preventing eye injuries.
Another way to be kind to your eyes is to get them checked! Very few Americans get their routine eye ex-ams more frequently than every 2 years. Roughly one in five people are at risk for vision loss. Many of these problems could be addressed through preventive care. A comprehensive eye exam can not only prevent these is-sues but it can also detect other serious health problems such as high blood pressure and diabetes to name a few. No matter what age you are, eye exams are vital to your health!
Montana Chamber Choices Health Insurance Program offers the Vision Service Plan (VSP) WellVision Exam benefit to its members. This benefit includes an eye ex-am with a $10 co-pay along with discounts on frames and lenses. For more information on Chamber Choices or VSP, visit www.chamberchoices.com. This benefit is offered to all covered plan members.

One of the great benefits of being a member of the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce is the members’ web listings. All members have a listing in the busi-ness directory at www.belgradechamber.org. This listing provides website visitors with information about your business.
All members can include the following in a stand-ard listing:
Location
Brief description of business
Contact numbers
Employee information and links to secure e-mails for those employees
Links: a website link, a Google map link, a Face-book page and LinkedIn page links, and driving directions to your business.
Members who upgrade to an enhanced web listing can have a 1600-character description of their busi-ness, 8 photos, and 5 bullet points that can link to websites.
Since the Belgrade Chamber upgraded its software in April 2011, all of our members have seen a huge increase in traffic to their web listings. Statistics say that a business can quantify the value of inter-net exposure to a 10% conversion rate. What does this mean? If you have 100 visits to your Belgrade Chamber web listing, you can expect at least 10 new sales from that exposure. The easier you are to find on the internet and the more information you can provide to a potential customer, the more likely they are to become an actual customer!
If you would like some ideas on how to increase visits to your listing, contact Debe Youngberg or Kim Adams at the Belgrade Chamber [email protected] or call 388-1616.

Thank you to everyone who was involved with the 2012 Golf Scramble. We had great weather, and Bridger Creek Golf Course took good care of us as usual. Thanks to the Membership Services Committee for a great day!
If you have events going on this summer, be sure to post them on our community calendar on the Chamber website. If you send the notice to the Chamber office electronically, we can also put it on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Speaking of Facebook, please go to our page and “like” us. This way you won’t miss out on any new event happening.
Congratulations to Larry Watson and the East Belgrade Inter-change Committee on the nearly $9 million Tiger Grant they received. Larry has put a lot time into the grant process. With this final push for money, the East Belgrade Interchange is right at the tips of our fingers and hopefully we can secure a few more million to make it a reality. It will improve the safety of our com-munity and the flow of traffic. We will need to kick our market-ing efforts into high gear to make sure that we get the signage we need to let travelers know that they can still come into Bel-grade for all their needs before they head to Big Sky or Yellowstone Park.
When shopping for a service or product, make sure to check if they belong to the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce. Our members are all listed on our website. By supporting your fellow businesses, you’re ensuring that Belgrade stays a strong and viable community!
Have a great summer!

Recent Renewals
The Chamber accepts credit cards and partial payments for dues!
Why Should I Renew My Dues?
Your Chamber membership shows your commitment to the community. When a small business is a member of the Chamber, the public is 44% more likely to think favorably of it and 63% more likely to purchase goods or services from that business in the future.
The community depends on the Chamber, and without our paying membership there would be no Chamber. From visitors looking for economical places to eat, sleep, and shop to the developer examining property in our community, people look to the Chamber for advice and ideas. Without the investment of members, the Chamber wouldn’t be able to do its part in keeping the community from declining.
Other Chamber benefits include all the networking opportunities, events sponsorships, representation in city and state government, and of course our great website! So as you see, it is well worth the money.
