I’m delighted to have you with us for our 36th Season of magnificent music. Designing the programs for our audiences for our 2017 Season has been a thrilling and deeply satisfying process. During our Winter Festival, we will be celebrating America’s vibrant musical culture with works by six of the United States' most accomplished living composers, paired with iconic European masterpieces from the past. Our Summer Festival will be highlighted by a series of musical postcards, including Russia (Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky); France (Debussy, Ravel, Bizet, Saint-Säens); Bohemia (Janácek, Smetana, Dvorák); and Vienna (Schubert, Brahms, Schoenberg). Seattle Chamber Music Society presents the finest chamber musicians from around the globe performing works by the world’s greatest composers. We continue to expand our audience and bring our music to more members of our community. In addition to strong audiences for our concerts at Nordstom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall, we see growing audiences for the pre-concert recitals, our free Chamber Music in the Park concert at Volunteer Park, our Music Under the Stars live broadcasts at select city neighborhood parks, our Classical Conversation and Meet the Artists series, and our live concert broadcasts on KING FM. We continue our community programs through providing student masterclasses, our partnerships with Seattle schools, family concerts and more. I am grateful to each donor who has helped fund our music and programs in the past—and who will help fund our work this year by making a gift to the Annual Fund. Approximately 44% of our $1.26 million budget comes from ticket and other earned revenue, and the other 56% comes from donations, including gifts from individual donors like you. Your support plays a vital role in supporting our work, and we value your investment. We have a strong fiscal record and have never carried an accumulated deficit. I’m excited to present another season of inspiring music and happy to have you be part of it.
