The Fitton Center Board of Directors recently announced the appointment of Ian MacKenzie-Thurley as the new Executive Director effective May 1, 2015. Last month I met with Ian and immediately felt his passion for the community and the opportunity to lead the Fitton Center into the future. In a news release, Linda Yarger, President of the Board of Directors, said “New ideas and excitement will not only help sustain the Fitton Center, but will make it grow. Only through change will we ensure the legacy Rick H. Jones has entrusted to our community. Ian’s experience, incredible ideas, business acumen and passion will drive us toward a successful future.” Rick Jones, who has been with the Fitton Center since its opening, will be retiring in May to open Renaissance Fine Art Supplies, in the commercial space of the Artspace Hamilton Lofts when the mixed-use building opens in late spring. The Chamber is appreciative of Rick’s work in helping to build the Fitton Center from its beginning. We also look forward to how Ian will continue to build on that legacy. We encourage you to visit our website at www.hamilton-ohio.com to see the entire news release announcing Ian’s appointment.

GETTING MORE CONNECTED TO THE CITYOne of the questions we frequently hear from our members is “How

can we stay informed on what is happening in the community?” Another frequent question is, “What is the best way for my business to request a service, ask a question or notify the City of potential problems?” We have two suggestions to answer these questions.

E-NOTIFY SIGN-UP The best way to get frequent updates

on City news, events, or meeting notices, is by signing up through the City for e-Notify. Once you sign-up, you’ll immediately begin receiving these timely updates. On this site, you’ll have the opportunity to select several potential updates. I suggest that you select all of the email lists but most importantly the one designated “Weekly Newsletter.” To sign-up, simply go to the City’s website at www.hamilton-city.org, click on E-Notify, sign-up and follow the easy steps. This will only take you a minute and then you’ll start receiving the updates on a weekly basis.

ONLINE 311 CITIZEN REQUEST CENTERThe Online 311 request center allows residents and businesses to

request a service or ask a question of the City. By following this process, you’ll also be able to check your request’s status or submit additional information to your request by entering your email address and request number . To use this system for a request, simply go the City’s website at www.hamilton-city.org and select 311 Service Request.

We use both of these methods to give and receive communication from the City. We’ve found them very beneficial and strongly suggest you sign-up for e-notify and use the online 311 Citizen Request Center. Thank you for your interest in staying informed and your partnership with the Chamber!

St. Aloysius is currently seeking new foster parents for children in Butler County and the greater Cincinnati region. St. Aloysius helps the children, adults and families in our community overcome their challenges by providing the education, counseling, health care and resources they need to heal and grow. For many children who have experienced abuse, neglect or other forms of trauma—and for those who don’t have the benefit of living in a safe, stable environment—placement with a loving and supportive family through their Foster Care program can help them get back on track. By combining foster parents’ strengths with St. Al’s expertise, training and support, children can learn the skills necessary to form healthy relationships and grow into happy, productive adults.

Please help St. Al’s make our community strong and become a foster parent! For inquiries, their foster care department can be reached at 513-242-7600 or to learn more about their continuum of care please visit www.stalsoysiuscincinnati.org.
