BRICK OVEN PIZZERIAOFFERS OLD WORLDTASTEGulino’s Trattoria is one of the newest membersof theMetuchenArea Chamber of Commerce. OnTuesday, April 12th, representatives of theChamber were joined by Metuchen MayorThomas Vahalla for an official ribbon cuttingwelcoming Gianluca Gulino to the Chamber andthe community. Guests that visited 205 MainStreet during the ribbon cutting were treated tosome of their delicious menu items.

Owned and managed by Gianluca Gulino sinceJuly 2010, Gulino’s provides a quality familydining experience to the southern end of MainStreet. Gulino, a New York City native and firstgeneration Italian American, grew up in Brooklynand is thrilled to bring his style of old worldcooking to Metuchen. The Gulino family has beenin the restaurant business for three generations. Hecredits his parents and grandparents for passingdown the family traditions, recipes, and above all apassion for cooking. Whenaskedwhy he chose to open inMetuchen, Gianluca stated, “Iwas looking for an op-portunity to open a restaurant, when I came upon an openingin Metuchen. Not knowinganything about the com-munity, I decided to take adrive through the neigh-borhood and found that thesmall, quaint, neighborhoodfeel was exactly what Iwanted. The fact that therewas no restaurant of this typeon this side of town convincedme that I could provide amuch-needed service to thispart of the community.”

Gulino’s Trattoria creates aone-of-a-kind dining experience through a menuspecializing in pizza, panini

and salads using only the finest ingredients. “Wemake our own mozzarella on the premises daily, and we only use a wood burning oven importedfrom Italy to bake all of our pizzas,” said Gulino.Using old family recipes that date back to hisgrandparents’ restaurant in Sicily and creations allhis own, Gulino has brought his unique style ofcooking to Metuchen. Gianluca, better known asLuca, takes the time to prepare every pizza toperfection. His pizzas are truly a work of art. Therestaurant offers an array of inventive salads andpanini, along with artisan pizzas.

The most popular salad at Gulino’s is the Caprinawith grilled chicken. Crisp mixed mesclun greens, dried cranberries, candied walnuts, thinly slicedapples and grilled chicken tossed with theirhomemade balsamic vinaigrette and topped offwith goat cheese medallions are what make thissalad a neighborhood favorite. The Panino Gulinois a house specialty. It’s an olive lover’s dream!ThePanino Gulino is made with an imported NewOrleans olive salad, grilled chicken, the finestimported prosciutto and Gulino’s own homemade

fresh mozzarella. Their overall best seller is theGrandma Pie. Its crust is thin and crisp, and thesauce is made from his mother’s recipe using SanMarzano tomatoes. If that wasn’t enough to getyour mouth watering, once the pie is out of theoven he adds a final touch by pouring premiumextra virgin olive oil, a generous amount of freshlygrated parmigiano-reggiano cheese and freshly cutbasil leaves over top. When asked about adding thebasil at the very end he replied, “If you bake thepizza with the olive oil, parmigiano and basil on it,you don’t get the full flavor and aroma out of theingredients. Plus, it’s thewaymy family has alwaysdone it, so why change a good thing!”A variety ofdelectable desserts and coffee are also available asa perfect ending to the most delicious meal. Acatering menu is available for all of your specialevents.

The atmosphere at Gulino’s Trattoria is relaxedand is great for a night out with the family orfriends. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous, and their friendly demeanor provides thatwelcoming old world feeling. While the restaurant

does not serve alcohol, guestsare welcome to bring their own.For your convenience, theyaccept Visa, MasterCard andDiscover. If you are placing anorder on-line they will acceptAmerican Express. Of course, they are happy to accept yourMetuchen Area Chamber ofCommerce gift certificates aswell.

SPRING HAS SPRUNGWITH THE ARRIVAL OFGARDENIAS!A Grand Opening, Open House, and officialRibbon Cutting Ceremony took place on Friday,April 15th at Gardenias Floral. Representativesfrom the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commercewere joined by Metuchen Mayor Thomas Vahallaas we welcomed Samantha Monday and AdamWoodruff, to the business community.
