Your membership… The Chamber offers valuable tools that you can use to maximize your membership, from networking events, to informative luncheons, to community outreach. Many times, it’s difficult for members to get away from their business to attend such events, so an online web presence is imperative. Each of our members is listed in the business directory, and are searchable by business name and primary category. Every member has the ability to access their online database to update their own information, post job postings and post specials and events. We’re currently in the process of updating our website, and hope to have that complete within the next couple of months. Some of the changes include the ability to renew memberships, pay invoices, and register for events online; video clips and maybe even a blog. What is important to you, as a member, when it comes to the website? Send me an email or give me a call, and let me know what you’d like to see on the website. We’ll do our best to make it happen. All my best,
As the Chamber finishes one event, and picks up the pace for the other events planned this spring, I find myself...well… Busy! My husband and I own three businesses between us, and have two small children who are just beginning to have extracurricular activities. Add in some volunteer work, and life gets a bit chaotic. Your chaos may not look exactly like mine, but nevertheless, most of you know exactly what I mean. During times like these, I tend to get caught up in my to-do list and appointments, and forget that I’m actually supposed to be enjoying life! So this month, I’m writing for all of you the advice I most need to hear: When life gets a little too busy and chaotic, that is when we most need to stop and focus on ourselves and our relationships. Our most important relationships are those with our friends and family. But what’s great about the chamber of commerce, is that coming to chamber activities helps foster relationships that can help us in business. Since I joined the chamber in 2011, I have met numerous acquaintances that have turned into friends, and numerous friends that have helped my business. In return, I’ve made a ton of connections with people that I now do business with. People do business with those they know, like, and trust. So even when we’re crazy busy, we need to take the time to work on our relationships. And the chamber of commerce provides multiple opportunities to do just that! Yours in health,
Cammy Jackson, President Midlothian Chamber of Commerce

Ambassador SPOTLIGHT: Dennis M. Smith, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance
An Ambassador is someone who by definition represents a certain organization or entity. The Midlothian Chamber of Commerce has implemented an Ambassador program to help represent the Chamber in many aspects of the organization. Being an Ambassador for the Chamber is both a great honor and amazing opportunity! The city of Midlothian is thriving! New businesses are opening their doors here with great expectation and anticipation of growth and community involvement. Communities are being planned and ground is breaking all over our town. The Chamber of Commerce stands on the front lines in our community welcoming these new businesses. The Chamber offers these new businesses their services to help them grow into a lasting member of our community. Ambassadors attend ground breaking ceremonies as well as ribbon cuttings. The Ambassadors play a large role in welcoming new members and we have the great honor of representing the welcoming Midlothian Chamber of Commerce to these new businesses. As business owners in this community we want to serve our community with honor. The Ambassador program is an excellent way to do just that. What about the opportunity that was mentioned above? As an Ambassador welcoming new businesses is a main objective we get to be a part of. Networking is an amazing way to let people know what you offer as well as meet people who offer things that can benefit you and your business. Ambassadors have the opportunity to meet all new members of the Chamber. In addition, Ambassadors have the opportunity to be seen by others in the community. These two aspects alone can generate great opportunity. The Ambassador team allows one to be an active part of this amazing and growing community and all it costs is a little time. In closing, the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce has hit a homerun in implementing a program that allows new members to feel welcome and that also provides existing members a way to continue to be active with the Chamber and the community as a whole. There are many other aspects and great advantages to being a member of the Ambassador team. In addition to the honor and opportunity, there are things like camaraderie and friendships that come from being in such a role. If you’re looking to find a fun way to be more involved in our community with the Midlothian Chamber of Commerce, please consider being an Ambassador. I have met many amazing people, experienced the joys of new businesses cutting their ribbons, and have thoroughly enjoyed seeing our community grow from within. Midlothian is great and it’s only going to get better! So what are you waiting for? Join us today for a ribbon cutting ceremony near you! Sincerely, Dennis M. Smith, LUTCF Local Insurance Agent (972) 921-4128 [email protected]
