International: Christians: If we say we fear God, which is the beginning of wisdom, whydon’t we obey Him when it comes to the rearing of our children?

The scriptures say that we should train a child in the way they should go, and if they dis-obey, the question is does one obey God with the ‘rod’ on a child, or should one obey thewritten-law-of-the-land? The law tells us that if a parent abuse the child, it ‘could’ meanthe parent(s) might be subjected to jail! Question: What constitutes abuse?

Christians: We have felt the results of disobedience to God, and the results are jails andprisons, and a heart-broken family.

Christians: Should We Go Back to God?

Parents: It is Better to Obey God Rather Than Man!The ,is pictured with the lateand greatwho started the civil

rights movement to roll-ing with the ‘No Back of

the Bus’ movement.’

: Some voters are expecting President Barack Obama, to work miracles over-night, when in-fact the problems at hand didn’t start ‘over-nights’ but some 8-plus-years earlier under the auspices ofone President George W Bush.

: To lay blame on others is a way-of–life for some politicians, however, when it comesto saving the lives of tax payers, every sane politician ‘should’ be on the same page - Democratic's andthe Republicans.

: The African American community would like to hope, pray, and trust that the failure of not want-ing to get along, is not a matter of old ways of doing things in these Not-So-United-States. And, if thePresident was a man of different complexion... would we get along then? With a pure heart, please saythis is not the case of hate! The youths are watching us - and will play by our rules of engagement!

: As youth stand on the corners watching grown-folks go about with their un-truths, they find lit-tle hope for the future, or for that of their children. Yes, youth fight with one another which is wrong, but they also see our leaders doing far greater crimes. Where is the example?

: Why are so many Congressional members attending Sunday, Morning Church Services, weeping, only to leave the church with a new determination to ‘break hell-wide-open’ on the hill the followingMonday. And we tell youth follow our example and go to Church? Something is not right!

: We forget that we are going to leave this life - and will have to give accountability for the deedsdone in the flesh. I don’t think we want to be guilty of would-have, could-have, or should-have done theright things on earth. So, let’s learn as obedience children-of-the-most-high God, as we are taught to

Ah, to be young and in love, there isnothing better! Except to be old andin love.

A belief in one great love is (ungrande amour) seems deeply cultural-ly embedded in both the French andthe Americans. Thirty per cent of theAmerican ages 50 to 64, said they hadencountered the love of their life asdid 81 percent of the French.

“A long time relationship may bemore about stability then sack time,’says Rutgers University biologicalAuthor urologist Helen Fisher, PhD.

Amanda Bausch PhD, Author says“perhaps because new love starts latein life feels like more of a miracle, itcan be more intense romantically.

American respondents to this poll ag-es 50 to 64 felt more strongly aboutthe sex as part of being in love andwere more likely to be in love thenthe 1824 year-olds I surveyed.

Brain scans shows that love spurs thebody to produce dopamine, a naturalstimulant, weather you are 18 or 80.”We found activity in participants whohad just fallen in love, and also in par-ticipants who reported they were inlong term” says Fisher of Rutgers,

“This activity was the same weatherthe individual was 18 or 50 plus. Thebody gets older but the basic emotion

- the need to be love remains thesame.”

Happy New Year…or is it?

It is a New Year filled with years and years of old issues and concerns. Violentcrime is higher than it’s ever been and it continues to permeate our communities.Yet, the media tells us the crime is low and that’s how “ ”evaluate the statistics on their reports. Unemployment is high and some want toblame crime on the lack of employment.

Taking a moment to revisit the lyrics "The Impossible Dream (The Quest)" apopular song composed by , with lyrics written by , withthe lyrics in mind, I interpreted the lyrics to our present day society.

To dream the impossible dream - never in my lifetime would I believe to be afirsthand witness and on the forefront as an active participate to elect our FirstBlack President of the United States, President Barack Obama, the 44th President. But, with God all things are possible.

To fight the unbeatable foe - To fight against the war on drugs, unemployment, homelessness, to fight for an equal playing field for Justice and not JUST-US!

To bear the unbearable sorrow, the sorrow of vacant lots where homes once stood, vacant lots where businesses were the talk of the town, unbearable sorrow becauseemployers cannot afford to hire due to the recession. Unbearable sorrows whereour youth are going from education to incarceration and in most cases so many areinnocent but the color of their skin remains the unbearable sorrow in our societyof racism.

- We as a for whom on our backs this United States of America was built. We

are questioned and ridiculed if we run for political office for President of this greatnation, questioned if we run for Mayor of this great city of Chicago. I refuse tocover my mouth and be silent on the injustices, civil rights and unfair practices.

When you’re married, do you expect the husband orwife to come into the relationship making promisedchanges ‘right-away’ or would you think it should bedone gradually?

The President made promises, and quite honestlyI’ve not seen anyone Democrats nor Republicans, dosuch a fast and remarkable job as Mr. President...except he has divine guidance. But, then of course, how in the world did he ever get there in the firstplace except by God’s intervention.

Suggestion: The bible says that we should pray forthose who have the rule over over, and that would bea plus. Give the president time and watch God move.

Which Really Counts: Name Recognition or Votes?Think! In the world of politics they say name recognition counts. Well, out oftwo top named candidates vying for the ‘Mayoral Seat,’ can you say who wouldmake the most outstanding Mayor for the City of Chicago?

Can you tell the racial background of either of the two? Can you tell what thecandidate has done in the community? If so, name them one-by-one!

When was the last time you noted either candidate walking the streets of the cityother than to campaign?

Think: If your life depended on it - who’s care would you put it in? Who identi-fies best with you and that of your community?

What named candidate would you take that walk to the polls for?

Other candidates (not pictured) are too numerous to mention but all have goodname recognition. Have fun thinking, but please VOTE!

He sent his word and heal them. And delivered them from all their destructions.

Psalms 107:20.We recently celebrated the birthday of our Lord and Savior, JesusChrist. He came to earth to bring about change. The Prophets of oldherald His coming, an angles appeared to the shepherds, and the wisemen saw his star in the east. Jesus completed his job here on earth, and then returned to the Father in heaven. In like-manner, God theFather, still sends people to earth for the purpose of effecting positivechange, and making a difference in the lives of others.

Such a man was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Doing the month of Janu-ary we celebrate his birth. He was sent by God to be in the fore-frontfor change. He took on the mantle of a civil-rights advocate - fighting

Probation Challenge, Inc.'The System That Works For Criminal Rehabilitation'

for the cause of freedom, justice and equality for Black Americans. Bastions and strong-holds of segrationwere challenged and torn-down in Montgomery and Birmingham Alabama. His efforts there and other placesriveted throughout the nation and its effect is still felt and seen today. Dr. King eventually paid the ultimateprice for the cause which resulted in the lose of his life at the age of 38-years.

In the month of February, we celebrate Black History, commemorating the lives of Black Americans whohelped to build this country, fought in its wars, made (and are still making) contributions in every area ofsociety.

I pray for the day when a special recognition month for the achievements and contributions of Black Ameri-cans will not be necessary, but we will instead be woven into the fabric of society, even the history books, high-lighting our achievements along with those of White Americans. We need only look in the White House to bereminded that with God all things are possible.

There are tax payers who consider the moves of Mayor Richard M. Daley, to send construction crews dur-ing the night to dig up chunks of Meigs Fields, less than an accomplishment.

They say, as reported in the Chicago Sun-Times, that Mayor Daley “misappropriated federal funds toaccomplish his middle-of-the-night illegal destruction of a primary airport that was part of the nationalaviation system.”

They said, “Daley had facilitated the 2003 Friends of Meigs’ plan “Parks and Planes: A vision for MeigsField and Northerly Island” by seeking Federal Aviation Administration funding for the sale of the air-field from the Chicago Park District to the City of Chicago, the cash-strapped park district could havenetted hundreds of millions of dollars.

Question: The, would the City of Chicago have had (1) the funds to ix parks citywide; (2) a new lakefrontBessie Coleman Skypark, and (3) a world-class city airport They said that would have been a real achieve-ment.

Allen said January 25, 2011 is the last day to register and vote forthe February 22nd election. He explained that if a candidate gets50% plus 1 in any of the contests, that candidate wins and there isno run-off. So, turnout is key in this election.

Allen said, "Early Voting will be offered from January 31st throughFebruary 17th. Early Voting is the option used by voters who havetheir minds made up, but if the ballot's not fully settled in one wardor for a citywide office if there's a legal question still unresolved, then some people may choose to wait until closer to Election Day toparticipate. Historically, the strongest participation in Early Votinghas come in the final seven days of the program."

According to Allen, for the 2011 Municipal General Election, Chicagovoters will be able to use any of the 51 Early Voting sites in the City, regardless of where they live, from January 31st through February17, 2011.

“New Killings Rolling Into 2011”Chicago, IL: Father Michael Pleger is correct when he says while the crimenumbers were down, according to police official, new numbers of shootings andkillings keep rolling into 2011.

When will this violence end? When will lawmakers pass ‘commonsence’ gun lawsthat limit the number of weapons purchased, limit a person to buying one gun amonth, reinstate the assault weapon ban, mandate that all gun sales include abackground check of the buyer, and make criminal gun data public? When law-

makers do that, it will put a big dent in the number of shootings.Father M. Pleger
