    The Airlockis a development space for successful applicants to the project. Whilein the airlock, applicants will have access to funding and the trusted agents, todevelop their pitch to Orange. It will allow you to taylor your idea and pitch in a waythat gives it the best chance when presented to Orange at the end of the airlock.

    The sponsor organisation is given 90 days to decide on whether and how to takeforward the innovation.

    Orange Trusted Agentsare independent third parties hired to assess anddevelop the ideas submitted to the project, working with the idea generators. OnOranges behalf, the Trusted Agents are live|work who have significant experience ofworking with Orange. NESTA and Wireless Innovation will form the Trusted Agentteam on behalf of the innovators.

    The Health Launchpad offers a unique package.o Solicit innovative ideas

    o Provide entrepreneurial expertise and understanding of public services so a

    proposal can be developed, tested and evaluated into a viable venture.o Help with all aspects of project development from business planning to

    Age Unlimitedstarts off with

    o Putting a call out to people working or using adult social care services toapply to take part in a workshop where they develop ideas.

    o After the event, groups are encouraged to apply for an idea. The best ideas

    get up to 10K.o Those with the best ideas are given 10k and support with AU through a 10-

    12 week incubation process involving group training and personal mentoringto develop the business case

    o At the end of this process, the groups will present their refined idea to a

    funding panel for a potential grant of 8K to test and prove the concept in thecommunity.

    Seedcampo Invites people to Mini Seed Camps and then one SeedCamp Week so peoplecan develop their ideas into funding pitches which are then judged byinvestors who commit funding to the best pitches

    o Following Seedcamp Week, the companies who receive investment stay in

    London for 3 months to grow and develop their company as well as buildingrelationships to help them sustain a viable business.

    BootCycleuse a similar approach, but based on mutual commitment, called Rulesof BootCycle.

    o Each BootCycle team must have one product idea which they are focused on

    delivering an investment or revenue ready version of within 10 weeks of thestart of BootCycle.

    o At least 2/3 of the members of a BootCycle team must be hackers* and they

    must have ownership rights to at least 2/3 of the outcome.o All BootCycle teams must participate in an initial 12 hour Pre-BootCycle to

    share ideas, skills, experience and a few drinks.o All members of all BootCycle teams must commit to attending to at least 9 out

    of 10 weekly meetings.o All BootCycle teams must demo their product at a high profile BootCycle

    A FabLab is a small scale workshop with the tools to make almost any object out ofglass, metal, plastic or other advance materials, incorporating electronics and othertechnologies. Complete novices can use the centre and receive help in developingtheir own ideas, or in building some of the products made at other FabLabs usingready made instructions.

    The Manchester FabLab will have a direct connection via the internet and real timevideo to the worldwide FabLab network, so that users can keep in touch, problemsolve and brainstorm ideas with others as far afield as Pretoria, Ghana andAfghanistan.

    2. Criteria for success

    o What is the issue youre trying to tackle?

    o What technology are you going to use (app, mashup, web, mobile)?

    o How will you sustain your idea (business, voluntary, part of council service)?

    o How will you get people to use your idea?

    o What name are you going to call your prototype?

    o Be a service proposition which is of demonstrable value to Orange customers.

    o The service must be novel and contain differentiating factors versus existing

    services.o The service innovation must be in trial, pilot development or in full production and

    commercially available.o Have the ability to generate total revenues in excess of 20m over 3 years.

    o Have a tangible and measurable business case for Orange and a proposed

    relationship between you and Orange.o Preferably be standalone solutions, requiring limited integration or low impact to

    existing infrastructure.o

    Be applicable first to the UK & European markets and then possibly to othercountries where Orange operates.
