Concert under the Oaks - Friday 5th December

Last week, all families received an invitation to our end of year

‘Concert under the Oaks.’ The evening starts at 6.00pm with a

Chalcot family picnic. Families can either purchase a sausage in

bread and a soft drink from our PFA or bring along their own

picnic.

The concert will commence at 6.45pm. The Chalcot Choir and each

class will be performing special items for you to enjoy. Staff also

has a surprise for you!!!

As the class teachers need to know how many of their students will

be performing, please ensure that you fill out the reply slip on the

invitation and return to school by this Monday, indicating whether

your family will be attending our concert.

Please provide your child with a towel or small cushion to sit upon

and chairs or a rug for yourselves.

A jolly old man in a large red suit said he is coming too!

2014 Student Leadership Program

The process for the selection of the 2015 student leaders is well

under way.

Aspiring School Captains have written applications and will be

presenting their speeches to Paul and myself next Monday, 1st

December. We will then shortlist students in consultation with the

class teachers. Shortlisted applicants will take part in group

interviews next Wednesday, 3th December, from which girl and boy

Captains and Vice Captains will be selected.

The House Captains selection process will occur on Monday 8th

December. This will involve Year 4 and 5 students presenting a

speech to the other members of their House in Years 2 to 5. House

members then vote to select boy and girl Captains and Vice

Captains.

Thank You Morning Tea for Helpers

Just a reminder to all of the wonderful parents and grandparents

who help us in so many ways to provide an excellent learning

environment to the students, that you are warmly invited to the

special morning tea which is being held in your honour next

Tuesday 2nd December, from 11.00am until 11.45am in the

staffroom. To assist us with catering could you please return the

invitation slip by Monday 1st December.

Cookery & Etiquette Recipe Booklet

PFA would like to present a compilation of Chalcot Lodge’s

yummiest recipes from the 2013 & 2014 Cookery and Etiquette

Program.

The booklet contains over 30 recipes that our mini chefs have

cooked and eaten over the last 2 years.

If you would like to purchase the Chalcot Lodge Cookery &

Etiquette booklet, please complete the order form which was sent

home yesterday. Booklets will be on display in the front office from

Monday 1st December and will be distributed to families during the

last week of school.

Scratch, Scratch, Scratch……….HEAD LICE!

During this week we have had one reported case of head lice in the

Year 3/4 area. We would urge all parents to check their children’s

and their own hair.

Lice do not just infect children’s hair! It is essential that hair is

treated with an appropriate shampoo and that the hair is sectioned

off for thorough combing with special fine toothed comb to

remove eggs sticking to the hair. Simply washing with your normal

shampoo will not help. Students with long hair should wear it tied

back while at school.

This may be “a great urban myth”, but I hear that once lice and

eggs have been completely removed, spraying the hair with hair

spray, especially around the hair line may stop reinfection. I can’t

guarantee this “remedy” but it may be worth trying.

The Jungle Book

On Wednesday night, our Year 6 students shone on stage as they

presented the production, ‘The Jungle Book’, at the Hallam

Secondary College theatrette. It was a full house, with families and

friends enjoying the wonderful evening. The students did an

extraordinary job, singing, dancing and acting out their animated

roles. The jungle animals, trees, bushes and rocks came to life on

stage making the audience laugh and cheering for more.

The props, staging and lighting were amazing and everyone

appreciated the refreshments made available by our PFA.

Involvement in the production enabled the students to grow

personally and to show yet another beautiful facet of themselves.

It took many members of the Chalcot family to bring this

production to life. Many thanks to the staff, parents and members

of the wider Chalcot family for all that you did in the weeks prior to

and on the day of the show. A very special thank you to Ms Natoli,

Mr Napier, Ms Ablitt, Ms Liapis, Mrs Wakeman, Mrs Clark and

Mrs McVicar for their dedication to our Year 6 students and hard

work in preparing for this very memorable night.

Congratulations to our Year 6 students on their spectacular

performance, we are so proud of you all!!!!!!!
