Bringing Students To School By Car

Parents who drive their children to school and use the front pedestrian gate are advised to enter Primrose

Hill Close from the northern end (closer to Kennington Park Drive). Drivers may then use the parking

bay to allow children out of the car. There is NO STANDING allowed opposite the school from 8.30 am

to 9.00 am and from 3.15 pm to 3.45 pm.

We also advise parents using Haverstock Hill Close and parking near the kinder to drop off and pick up

their children, to enter Haverstock Hill close near the park and exit closer to Grove End Road. By having

school traffic only travelling in one direction we hope to keep our children safe and reduce dangerous

incidences. If our instructions are unclear, please contact the office for clarification.

Engage 1on1 Psychology - Assisting students to ‘Engage with Life’ Psychology services are now available for students at Chalcot Lodge. The services are provided by Engage

1on1 Psychology, a team of child/adolescent psychologists specialising in working with young people in

schools across Melbourne. They assist young people with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress,

motivation, social skills, depression and provide practical strategies for relationship difficulties.

The service is professional, confidential and provided on-site at the school. Counselling strategies are

evidence based to help improve psychological well-being.

Chalcot Carnival

The Chalcot Carnival Night will be held on Friday 13th March from 4.30pm - 8.00pm on the senior side

of the school. This year, a $20 wristband will get Chalcot students, siblings and past students (up to 15

years old) unlimited rides on the Meltdown (10 years – adult), Bad Boys (120cm +) Cup & Saucer (all

ages), Superslide 4 (5 years – adults), Giraffe Jumping Castle (all ages) and Animal Farm (all ages).

There will also be amusement games, face painting, popcorn, fairy floss and drinks for sale on the night.

Our market precinct will be set up with an a array of stalls and our food pavilion, including D'Tandoor &

Di's Canteen will be set up in the senior amphitheatre.

Wristbands will be available to purchase via Compass until Monday 9th March, after that date they will

be available to purchase in the office and on the night at the ‘Wristbands / Money’ stall, that will be

located near the Year 5/6 portable.

Don’t forget, any students that were registered with Camp Australia by 14th February will have their

wristband provided by Camp Australia. Please see Lisa to collect your child’s wristband.

This year will be selling vouchers to the value of $10 and $20, for children to use as payment for

amusement games, popcorn, fairy floss, show bags, etc. Please remember that the Chocolate Lab game

does require coins to be tossed at the chocolates in order to win them, so some change will be necessary.

Cash will be needed to make purchases from Di’s Canteen and for drinks, D’Tandoor will be accepting

cash & EFTPOS. The school will also be accepting EFTPOS on the night for wristbands and $10 / $20

vouchers.

If anyone is still interested in a market stall, please contact Narelle on 9700 4455 to arrange a space or if

anyone is available to assist with the set up during the day please let us know. Fingers crossed that the

weather is perfect and that we all have a fun night.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

We have been advised that there has been a case of Hand, Foot and Mouth disease identified in

Prep. This is a viral infection that produces small blisters on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet and

inside the mouth. Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common viral infection which is easily passed from

person to person. It usually causes a mild illness. Good hygiene helps prevent infection. In Primary

school and children’s services centres, exclusion is required until all blisters have dried.

Scratch, Scratch, Scratch……….HEAD LICE!

During this week we have reports of head lice across the school. We would urge all parents to check

their children’s and their own hair. Lice do not just infect children’s hair! It is essential that hair is

treated with an appropriate shampoo and that the hair is sectioned off for thorough combing with a

special fine toothed comb to remove eggs sticking to the hair. Simply washing with your normal

shampoo will not help. Students with long hair should wear it tied back while at school.

Camps, Sports And Excursions Fund

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend

activities like:

school camps or trips

swimming and school-organised sport programs

excursions and incursions

Families holding a valid means-tested concession card or temporary foster parents are eligible to apply.

Please contact the office for further information. Applications for 2020 are now open and will close on

26th June 2020 (end of term 2).

Payments are:

$125 per year for eligible primary school students

$225 per year for eligible secondary school students.

Payments are made directly to the school and are tied to the student. Most payments start from March

onwards. Applications can be received over term one and two. Payments are for the application year and

cannot be claimed for previous years.

If you applied for the CSEF last year, you do not need to complete an application form in 2020 unless there

has been a change in your family circumstances. We will apply for the CSEF on your behalf.

You will only need to submit an application form in 2020 if any of the following changes have occurred:

new student enrolments: your child has started or changed schools in 2020 or you did not apply at

the same school in a previous year

changed family circumstances: such as a change of custody, change of name, concession card

number, or new siblings commencing at the school in 2020.

Schools are able to accept and process applications up until the end of term two each year.

CSEF payments are made to schools from March onwards each year.

Cash orders need to be brought to the school office by 3.30pm.Tuesday afternoon.

Online orders need to be submitted by Wednesday 8.30am.

Lunches will be delivered on Wednesdays’ at lunch time.

Please ensure Subway envelopes are fully completed and in the Subway basket by 9.00am on Wednesday

mornings.

Subway lunches are delivered on Thursdays.

SCHOOL BANKING

Don’t forget that THURSDAY is School Banking day and students should hand in their deposit book

first thing (during the marking of the roll) on Thursdays.

Our School Banking Program is a fun way for your child to develop the knowledge and confidence to

handle their money, combining a savings Rewards Program with great activities throughout the year.

New Accounts: If you would like your child to participate in our School Banking Program please follow

the links to open an account at www.commbank.com.au/personal/kids/school-banking, or by visiting a

Commonwealth Bank branch. We do not keep application forms at the school office. If you’ve signed

your child up online, and their book hasn’t arrived yet, we can still get them going if you have been given

the account number by the bank. Just ask the school office for directions as soon after 9am as possible on

a Thursday morning, or leave a message at the school office.
