EDITORS’NOTE Hello Readers!

On behalf of the Department of ECE, Chalapathi Institute of

Engineering College, it gives us immense pleasure to present the

1st edition of the IMPULSE magazine. It was both exciting and

exigent being the Editors of this issue of our department’s

Magazine. This magazine is a true reflection of the sincere efforts of our team

who worked tirelessly with great zeal like ants collecting food.

They went the extra mile to ensure that the magazine was

impeccable - design and content wise.

The magazine focuses on the incredible achievements of our

students, staff and alumni in curricular, co-curricular and

extra-curricular spheres. Furthermore, we hope that this

magazine is a repository of information and knowledge,

providing a forum for open exchange of ideas.

From all corners of our hearts we would like to express our

profound gratitude to Dr. Satya Sai Ram, for his help and

guidance in creating this magazine.

SCIENTIST OF THE YEAR

JAYANT VISHNU NARLIKAR (born 19 July 1938) is an

Indian astrophysicist. He developed with Sir Fred

Hoyle the conformal gravity theory, known as Hoyle–Narlikar

theory. It synthesizes Albert Einstein's Theory of

Relativity and Mach's Principle. It proposes that the inertial

mass of a particle is a function of the masses of all other

particles, multiplied by a coupling constant, which is a

function of cosmic epoch.

Narlikar has received several national and international

awards and honorary doctorates. India's second highest

civilian honour, Padma Vibhushan, was awarded to him in

2004 for his research work. Prior to this, in 1965, he was

conferred Padma Bhushan. He was awarded 'Rashtra

Bhushan' in 1981 by FIE Foundation, Ichalkaranji. He

received Maharashtra Bhushan Award for the year 2010.

He is a recipient of Bhatnagar Award, M.P. Birla Award, and

the Prix Jules Janssen of the Société astronomique de France

(French Astronomical Society).

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electronics and Communication

Engineering was established with the inception of the

institute in the year 2007 with an intake of 60 seats and in

the year 2009 the intake was increased to 120 seats. In the

year 2012 a Post Graduate (M.Tech) programmee in “VLSI &

Embedded Systems Design" with an intake of 18 seats was

started. The department has been continuously striving for

excellence in engineering education and research, and at

present, it is one of the largest departments in the institute in

terms of students strength and number of

academic programmes.…

Our students got University First, Fifth ranks in the year

2014 and sixth Rank in the year 2015. One student has

received Pratibha Puraskar Award from the Govt. of AP in the

year 2014. Students are encouraged to participate in State

and National level paper contests.

The Department has good infrastructural facilities, Six

laboratories with well-equipped hardware and softwares. The

department is granted with faculty development program
