Chainsaw Masscared

This is a very old magazine cover however still highlights the way a magazine cover has tried to appeal to older films like ‘chainsaw massacre’ and is something that I have taken inspiration from. The bright colours have attracted the audience and represent the antagonist face which for those that enjoy horror films may find this grotesque and my consider going to watch this. However we would modify this text by using colours that conform to the horror genre like reds and black instead of pink, yellow and purple. Dark colours would appeal to a wider audience and make it clear what genre this film is from. Another aspect that I like of this magazine cover is the extreme close up of the antagonist, this is a shot that we would want to use as it highlights Although this magazine is a great inspiration , this ‘Fangoria’ magazine is not a good magazine to use for our final project as it only covers older films and therefore is not that popular. Whereas a new and incoming film would be in a magazine that covers new films that have just come out, and specifically target independent films that have just come out and is difficult to get recognised. In addition the main character does not look that scary as they have not used any shadowing, and therefore we would develop this by making the imagery much more darker , however I do like the shallow focus within the background and we would want our imager to be very focused

Dark colours would appeal to a wider audience and make it clear what genre this film is from.Another aspect that I like of this magazine cover is the extreme close up of the antagonist, this is a shot that we would want to use as it highlights something known to represent the unknown and is much more intresting compared to using a long shot for example.

Although this magazine is a great inspiration , this ‘Fangoria’ magazine is not a good magazine to use for our final project as it only covers older films and therefore is not that popular.
