As you grow older you become more responsible. Meaning you have to understand the short and long term consequences of your decisions.

• Example “deciding to go to a party where drugs and alcohol are being used”

THE DECISION MAKING PROCESS

The decision making process is a series of six steps to help you make the best decision.

• STATE THE SITUATION– What are the facts – Is anyone else involved

Step 2

• List the options– Make a list of all your options– Be as complete as possible

Step 3

• Weight the possible outcomes– Use the H.E.L.P. formula

• H – Healthful• E – Ethical• L – Legal• P – Parental Approval

Step 4

• Consider your values– Values will help you make the decision best

for YOU.

• Make a decision and act– Once you have completed steps 1-4 it’s time
