organised by the Department of Commerce, SriVenkateswara University, Tirupati in
collaboration with Essex Business School,
University of Essex, UK, on 30th & 31st January,

from the fact that it is not just an opportunity
for sharing the latent ideas on corporate
governance but also networking with diverse
minds, integrating perspectives and practices
from different countries across the globe. This
conference aims at tapping the rich vein of
expertise, wisdom and experience for
facilitating good corporate governance.
I look forward to the pleasure of welcoming
you at the conference in January, 2013.
THEME OF THE CONFERENCE
The Corporate Governance (CG) has
been gaining greater momentum in the recent
past and is a buzz word in the corporate world.
It has emerged as a means of achieving
corporate excellence and a driving force for
accomplishing much better performance,
maximising the stakeholders wealth and
corporate value. It shapes the efficiency of
firms, the stability of economy and
employment, the fortunes of suppliers,
distributors and consumers, the portfolios of
pensioners, the endowments of orphanages
and hospitals and the like. Corporate
governance is a pre-requisite for economic
prosperity. However, there is little objective
evidence that good governance will eitherprevent further corporate failure or contribute
to improve organisational effectiveness.
Therefore, the conference aims at exploring the
evidences in this context and to evolve new
ideas in this direction.
