AutonomyCFI schools, in addition to being magnet schools, also have autonomy within the IPS district. The
autonomous status allows for increased decisionmaking at the school level in regards to staffing,
curriculum,andteachingandlearningmaterials.

academics.
ThegoalofthePYPistodevelopaninternationalpersonwhorecognizesandappreciatesallcultures
including their own and is equipped to act as a global citizen. Toward this goal, all students are
engaged in philanthropic social action projects. In developing our global communication skills, all
studentsstudyasecondlanguage(Spanishand/orMandarin).
Teachers guide inquiry through six themes throughout the year. Each of these unit planners has a
globalfocus.Thethemesare:WhoWeAre,HowWeExpressOurselves,WhereWeare inTimeandPlace,HowWeOrganizeOurselves,HowtheWorldWorks,andSharingthePlanet.
