Trainee specific information

If you are not a trainee please go to page 8 ‘Policies and Procedures’

Responsibilities of the people and organisations involved with your traineeship (including you)

Your Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO)

TP Human Capital is your chosen training provider and will supervise your training and assessments. When you have achieved all competencies in your training plan we will issue your Certificate.

We develop a Training Plan especially for you and your Training Record Book matches the competencies chosen. Your Training Plan outlines the units you will complete, timeframes for completion, and whether your employer or TP Human Capital will be responsible for your training. We will review the training plan regularly to ensure your training is progressing satisfactorily.

Your employer and/or supervisor

All training that your employer is responsible for delivering must be done during your normal work hours. They must check that you are completing each task to the required standard and that you have the opportunity to practice these tasks during your working day. They are also responsible for making sure that you apply the appropriate workplace health and safety standards.

It is essential that:

Your employer/supervisor signs off that you can do the work Your employer monitors your work progress TP Human Capital has enough evidence from you and your employer to sign you off as competent

Your employer/supervisor should evaluate your performance continually by:

Observing you perform and practice tasks on the job Discussing your progress with other co-workers Asking you questions about the tasks you are performing on the job Reviewing client comments on the quality of your completed job Checking the quality and progress of your work Setting projects for you Asking you to explain how you perform the tasks

Your responsibilities

To follow the lawful instructions of your employer or vocational placement supervisor To be punctual for training Complete all your work and assessment tasks to the best of your ability Accurately update your training record book as competencies are achieved; and Keep your training record book at work so if requested you can produce your book to TP Human Capital and

Department of Education and Training.

Mentor/Coach

Your supervisor is generally the best person to work with you during your training as your mentor or coach. We encourage you to sign a Learning Plan Agreement (found at the front of each Learning Guide) with your supervisor before commencing training. The Agreement will help you to decide what support from others you will need. During your induction we will decide together who will be your mentor for this program.

TP Human Capital is committed to providing an effective, efficient, timely, fair and confidential academic or non-academic grievance handling procedure for all participants.

Academic matters include those matters which relate to participant progress, assessment, course content or awards in a VET course of study.

Non-academic matters include those matters which do not relate to participant progress, assessment, course content or awards in a course and include complaints in relation to personal information that the provider holds in relation to the Participant. Non-academic grievances tend to arise from events occurring at a provider or from decisions made by training organisation.

Informal Grievance Procedure

If you experience any problem at any time whilst training with TP Human Capital, we suggest you follow these steps to ensure your problem is appropriately resolved.

Talk to your facilitator or Accreditation Coordinator with details of your problem. The facilitator will, within one working day, respond verbally to that complaint with a view to satisfying your requirements.

If this does not provide the solution to the problem, then the formal complaints and appeals procedure is to be followed.

Formal Grievance Procedure

If grievance has not been resolved please follow steps below.

Stage 1 Should your complaint not be resolved, you should approach the Training Manager with written details of the complaint. The Training Manager will, within five working days, respond verbally to your complaint with a view to resolve the situation. The Complainant will be advised of their right to access Stage 2 of this procedure if they are not satisfied with the outcome of Stage One.

Stage 2 Should your problem still be unresolved, the Training Manager shall, within one week, call a meeting of everyone involved to clarify all issues and reach a satisfactory resolution of the problem. An agreed timetable will be drawn up to define time frames of actions required. Minutes will be taken and copies given to everyone at the meeting.

Stage 3 If the Complainant is not satisfied with the outcome of Stage 2 they may request that the matter be referred to an external dispute resolution process by a body appointed for this purpose by TP Human Capital.

Page 12: Certificate III in Business - TP Human Capital · By the end of this training programme, you will have the key skills and knowledge required to hold a Certificate III in Business

TP Human Capital will treat fairly all Participants and Potential Participants.

Participant selection

TP Human Capital has open, fair and transparent procedures, based on merit for making decisions about:

the selection, from among Potential Participants; and

the treatment of Participants.

Potential Participants seeking to enrol in a VET unit of study with TP Human Capital, regardless of their background, circumstances or eligibility for funding, will be assessed for entry to study through the same published entry requirements and through the same process.

The above paragraph does not prevent TP Human Capital taking into account, in making decisions mentioned above, educational disadvantages that a particular Participant or Potential Participant has experienced or the fact that the participant or Potential Participant may be enrolled via a VET restricted access arrangement.

Anti-discrimination

TP Human Capital is an equal opportunity employer. All participants are treated on their merits, without regard to race, age, sex, marital status or any other factor not applicable to the position.

TP Human Capital does not tolerate any form of discrimination. We believe everyone has the right to work, train and/or conduct business in an environment free of discrimination and harassment.

Discrimination undermines proper working relationships and may cause low morale, absenteeism, resignations, and loss of business. Any reports of discrimination or harassment will be treated seriously and investigated promptly, confidentially and impartially. A written complaint is not required.

Disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who discriminates against a participant, co-worker or visitor to the premises. Discipline may involve a warning, transfer, counselling, demotion or dismissal, depending on the circumstances.

Sexual harassment

TP Human Capital considers sexual harassment an unacceptable form of behaviour which will not be tolerated under any circumstances. The company believes that everyone should be able to work, train and/or conduct business in an environment free of intimidation and sexual harassment.

Under the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act and the Federal Sex Discrimination Act, sexual harassment is against the law.

Any reports of sexual harassment will be treated seriously and investigated promptly, confidentially and impartially. A written complaint is not required. Disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who sexually harasses a co-worker or visitor to the premises. Workplace Health and Safety

When it comes to Workplace Safety:

Be prepared

Be proactive

Be positive

TP Human Capital encourages each and every participant to take CARE on each and every training session; while travelling to and from our training rooms. Your health and well-being are very important to us

As you go about your work/training, ask yourself:

Do I need more training or instruction for the task I’m about to start?

Do I know the training venue’s workplace health and safety rules and evacuation plan?

Who can I ask if I need to know something?

Can the task I’m about to do hurt me or someone else?

Is there lifting or moving equipment available instead of manually handling awkward items?

Can I or anybody else slip, trip, or fall?

Am I likely to be burnt or electrocuted?

Is my posture correct?

Can damage to equipment occur?

Should I be using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)?

All near misses and actual accidents must be reported and a form completed by all parties. Please ask at Reception for assistance.

TP Human Capital has accredited First Aid Officers and a Workplace Health and Safety Officer. All medical issues must be reported to and assessed by one of them. Please ask your trainer for assistance.

General information to help you

Assessments and evaluations

We will make sure you have appropriate knowledge and skills so you can apply that knowledge and skill to general workplace standards. Assessment will be fair and non-discriminatory. How you will be assessed and what the assessor will be looking for should be made clear to you at the beginning of each unit.

You will be given an evaluation form at the completion of each unit/tutorial session. We ask that you fill these out honestly. Evaluation forms are analysed to investigate any issues or to identify areas of improvement.

Assessment opportunities

Right from the beginning of your training programme we shall start gathering evidence towards your final competency sign-off. There is no such thing as ‘fail’ under competency-based assessment. If we don’t have sufficient evidence to feel that you can consistently achieve the required level of skill in the workplace, you will need to continue to gather evidence until you reach the required levels. Our assessment policy for this programme allows you two opportunities to present sufficient and appropriate evidence. Should you not achieve this, we would suggest you work through the unit again before submitting further evidence.

Assessments to be submitted will have time-frames. There may be some units that require you to bring information/evidence in as part of the assessment when you attend the tutorial. Assessment due dates will be negotiated between you and the trainer at each training session. Generally, it will be expected that you submit assessments for a unit 4-6 weeks following the tutorial and prior to attending the next tutorial.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the "wrongful appropriation" and "purloining and publication" of another author's "language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions," and the representation of them as one's own original work.

Taken from Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia

TP Human Capital requires participants to acknowledge where they obtained information that is not their own within their assessment evidence and to ensure when requested that work is of their own development and not of another.

Workplace project

It is essential that you are able to put into practice in a ‘real’ work environment the skills you are learning during your training programme. You need to discuss immediately with your trainer any problems that you can see in applying your assessment items to a real workplace situation.

Attendance

For sessions scheduled at TP Human Capital, you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to commencement.

If you are sick or some urgent problem prevents you from undertaking training when we have organised it with you, please contact us before 8.30 a.m. that day – or beforehand if you know there will be a problem.

If your behaviour is disruptive for other participants and clients, we may ask you to leave the premises.

Through your background experience and this initial consultation, we can determine if you may have to spend a little more time in achieving the basic literacy and numeracy skills required to successfully complete this training programme. Please feel comfortable in discussing with us if you feel you may have difficulty in any reading, speaking or calculating tasks.

Training Plan

A Training Plan or programme of training will be designed with you and for you. The Training Plan will consist of the training units, starting dates and suggested completion dates. TP Human Capital will review your Training Plan with you and your supervisor at least every six months.

Training Record Book

The training record book is an important document for you to keep throughout your training and afterwards. Take care of it and keep it with you for all training that you do with us. It is divided into competency units and tasks to be undertaken by you. TP Human Capital must check that you are completing each task to the required standard.

As you complete each of the units, your training facilitator is to sign and date the appropriate page.

During your period of training you must:

accurately update your training record book as competencies are achieved; and

Your training record book is yours to keep and may be used to:

show employers the training you have completed;

gain credit or exemptions in other training courses; and

assist in preparing future job applications.

Certification of completion

When you have achieved all the competencies listed on your training plan, you should contact TP Human Capital so that TP Human Capital can process the completion of your training and issue your Certificate. If you only complete one or more units (not the complete course) a Statement of Attainment will be issued for those units.

TP Human Capital can reprint qualifications or statement of attainments if lost at $50 per reprint. If over 3 years since you have completed your qualification $100.
