Kanpur, Nov 20 In Uttar Pradesh, over 115 people have been dead and several others injured when 14 coaches of Indore- Rajendranagar express derailed near Pukhrayan district in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh early this morning. More than hundred passengers were injured when 14 coaches of the train derailed early this morning. The incident took place at around 3 AM near Pukhrayan, about 100 kms from Kanpur. President Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi have expressed heartfelt condolences to families of deceased in the accident. They also prayed for speedy recovery of the injured. The Railways has announced ex-gratia of 3.5 lakh rupees each for families of those killed, 50,000 rupees for seriously injured and 25 thousand rupees for minor injury. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also announced exgratia of two lakh rupees each for the next of kin of those killed and 50,000 rupees for those seriously injured. The provision to secure convictions in dowry death cases was inserted in the Evidence Act, which provides that instead of presumption of innocence, the accused will be presumed prima facie guilty in such homicides if a woman dies within seven years of marriage and there is proof of cruelty. Presumption in dowry death to be backed by cruelty proof: SC New Delhi, Nov 20 Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley has said that one of the major priorities of present Government is to ensure that benefits of Social Security Schemes reach to every section of workers including those working in unorganized sector. Speaking during his second pre-Budget Consultative Meeting for the Union Budget with the representatives of different Trade Union Groups in New Delhi yesterday, Shri Jaitley said, the Government is sensitive about the welfare of workers and will take all possible measures to ensure that their interest and welfare is fully protected. She said that within fifteen months of itsinception, the UT Commission is able to solve various issuesconcerning the children. She said, there is a proposal todevelop child- friendly village in these Islands.In her presentation, Smt. Geeta Raj, Member UTCPCRinformed that UTCPCR was formed in July 2015 in order totake up numerous child related issues. She said a talenthunt competition was organised to bring out the inherenttalent of the students. Kumari Rajeshwari of Cap-stoneChildren Home presented her first prize winning speech onthe occasion. Catherine Alex of Carmel School bagged thefirst prize in elocution competition. The students from LoveChildren Home, Balika Niketan and Bethany Children Homepresented cultural programmes befitting the occasion. The function concluded with the vote of thanksproposed by Ms Rubina Siddiqui, Member UTCPCR.
