Unity, our spiritual community, is created by all of us together. Your vision joins with many others who care about this community as we create the quality of our present and the fulfillment that is our future.

Help us discover what God is calling us to be! How can we support your spiritual growth? What makes your heart sing here, and how can we make more of it? To answer these questions, we created “2020 InSight”!

2020 InSight is a wonderful program that brings our Unity family together in a dynamic creative process. Together we discover how we can enhance our spiritual community so that the next five years of our journey to 2020 are truly fulfilling and spiritually enriching for us all.

Nine years ago, our community began to envision our goals of a renewal of our facility to match the new consciousness of blessing we were experiencing in our hearts. We called our creation Love in Action; and on October 10, 2010, we opened the fully renovated facility we enjoy today.

Five years ago in 2010, our community began to envision new goals as we listened to what called to our hearts at that time. We called that creation 2020 Vision. We have brought much of that vision into fulfillment as the wonderful programs, classes and services that support our spiritual community today.

Now, half way to 2020, its time to add your powerful InSight to our journey so we can fulfill our destiny together.

This fall we will share our hearts’ desires at delightful ‘Insight Gatherings’ in each other’s homes. Join us for the 2020 Insight Launch Party on Sunday, September 13th at our Center. From then through mid-November we will get together in each other’s homes to explore our hearts and share our insights. We are hopeful that we will have a wonderful new video of our church to share at these gatherings.

In the new year, we all come together in a day-long celebration and translate those insights into the vision for our future and the path to bring it into full expression in our lives.

Upcoming EventsWorld Day of PrayerThursday, September 10The 2015 World Day of Prayer observance celebrates the 125th Anniversary of Silent Unity, the oldest and longest-running prayer vigil in existence. Through telephone calls and e-mails, Silent Unity is there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, praying for millions of people. Come celebrate the day with us here at Unity.

The theme for this year’s event is Pray Up Your Life, Pray Up the World and our affirmation: As I pray, I connect my highest thoughts with my deepest faith.

Our Heart Ministers (Chaplains) will begin the hourly Prayer Vigil at 12 Noon and pray until 6:00 pm. You may come in and join at any time. They will then host a powerful Prayer Service at 7:00 pm, featuring heart-touching music and an inspirational and enlightening message by Rev. Vic Jenkins, Unity Minister, whose “Standing in the Need of Prayer” will speak to the challenges and remedies of praying in the midst of personal and world crises and re-igniting a wavering faith.

Come pray with us and worship with us on one of the most powerful days of the year.

Guest Speaker Cindy Farris, Licensed Unity TeacherSunday, October 18 • All ServicesWe are delighted to have the opportunity to share Cindy Farris with our whole community as our guest speaker on Sunday, October 18. We asked Cindy to come and teach “The Creative Process in the Bible” class and now we get to share this dynamic woman’s spiritual wisdom and joyful heart with everyone.

Cindy Farris is a Licensed Interfaith and Religious Science minister, and also a Licensed Unity Teacher and a Religious Science Practitioner. She served as church administrator for Clarity Academy of Spiritual Arts, a Religious Science church in Sacramento for 2 ½ years.

As former Adult Education Director at Unity of Sacramento, education has always been her passion, and is reflected in her teaching style as a speaker. In that role she implemented a strong adult education program. She still serves as a classroom teacher in California public schools. Recently she has taught a Unity accredited class at Unity of Walnut Creek. Cindy is a former student of Rev. Sheila Gautreaux, Assistant Minister at Unity of Walnut Creek.

Touch for Health: Acupressure Self-helpMondays at 7:00 pm with Tra Holloway Boxer (closed after first session)

Using the principles of Touch for Health, we can optimize our body’s natural capacities to heal ourselves, and stay healthy. It seems unwise, as we look at our lives today, not to acknowledge that we are residing in an age when the energetics not just of the body but of all life are reshaping our world. Touch for Health empowers individuals to be productive in their own wellness without replacing any branch of health care. We can manage our energies to more effectively meet stress, reduce anxiety and free ourselves of many ailments. Another plus—you can share what you learn for yourself in this process with family members and other loved ones. In this class you are shown how we can work with the body’s energy systems to find your fulfillment to nourish: the body with healthy food; the heart with joy, compassion and love; the mind with knowledge; and the Spirit with equanimity and self-awareness.

Because this is a hands-on, interactive class, the class is closed after the first session.

Beyond the Veil: Working with the Akashic Records, Life Between Lives, Soul Contracts, and MoreMondays at 7:00 pm with Jill ShinnThe first three weeks we will focus on the Akashic Records. All that you are, have been, and potentially will be, is accessible through the Akashic Records, an etheric library or data base of every thought, feeling, intention, action, and event that has ever occurred throughout the history of the universe.

During the last five weeks of the class, we will cover other important aspects of life beyond the physical world. We will discuss the groundbreaking works of Michael Newton, Robert Schwartz, Edgar Cayce, Raymond Mooney, and other pioneers who have played key roles in illuminating the other side of the veil. Students will share their own experiences and insights.

Jill Shinn, author of Remembering Who You Are: A Guide to Spiritual Awakening and Inner Peace, holds a master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology. She is a Transformation/Purpose Coach and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Jill specializes in connecting people with their higher guidance and unique, one-of-a-kind purpose. She helps people remember who they are, and what they came here to do.

Our Unity CommunityWednesdays At UnityThe 1st Wednesday is Healing Night. Our healing nights are very meaningful and supportive of the community of healers that are gathered at Unity. These healers, with your support, prayers and attunement, are here to share their transformative energy with you as you create the sacred space to maximize the gift of the life force that flows through them, blessing you.

The 2nd Wednesday is Forgiveness Tools with Rev. David and Rev. Sheila. Throughout this year we are having short, special workshops where one can learn a tool or technique that has helped people experience forgiveness. The techniques may be from HeartMath®, Radical Forgiveness, Unity, Buddhist or other practices. The important thing about the techniques shared is that they have been tested and they have brought about meaningful forgiveness experiences. Rev. David, Rev. Sheila and others who are committed to the practice of forgiveness will share these powerful tools.

The 3rd Wednesday is WOW (Women of Wisdom) night. Our amazing Women of Wisdom evenings continue to be a dynamic fun and fulfilling experience. This very successful creative program is one for our women to treat themselves to.

The 4th Wednesday is your Board of Trustees meeting.

The 5th Wednesday is in-depth time with Rev. David. On September 30, bring your ideas as we explore: What’s my part in the heart awakening of humankind?

We want to celebrate the many wonderful people who make Unity of Walnut Creek happen by volunteering this past year. After the services we will have a moment of appreciation for everyone who volunteers as we recognize them in many different roles and ways we help our community function. Then lunch will be served by our fabulous ‘Men’s Group’ as we visit together.

There are so many people who volunteer to make our Sunday services such a special experience. At the same time, there are many people seeing that our wonderful young people, from toddlers to teens, have a spiritually rewarding experience each Sunday. We have people who bring us fabulous music, print and prepare our mailings, compose the teams that bring us classes, seminars and special groups. We have volunteers who keep us in prayer, create special services, clean up after we’ve all gone home and care for our wonderful facility. We are about to experience our powerful, delightful fall event through the efforts of the many, many volunteers who make that magic happen. The list goes on and on. Help us honor our volunteers and give a special thanks to those amazing men who have the passion to feed us as we experience their care and appreciation.

News from the Joyful Noise ChoirWe are excited to welcome Pam Whitman as our new choir director. Pam brings years of experience in our Joyful Noise Choir, a magnificent music background and a love of the people. She knows how the choir lifts our spirits and enhances our Sunday morning experience. Pam, we are so thrilled to have your talent, skill and delightful heart to guide us. We are also very grateful to Rev. Sheila for her love and care as our director over the past years.Our choir starts rehearsing in September and meets every Thursday at 7:30. If you love music, come and join in this wonderful choir. Pam is eager to welcome new voices and the experience will make your heart sing.
