A special “thank you!” goes out to Joe Price of Joseph P. Price Agency, Inc. for his most generous gift to the Library. His donation has made it possible for our Library to purchase Fender Seaside Soprano Ukuleles as part of our “Library of Things” special collection. These ukuleles will be used in music appreciation programming for children. Studies have shown how music has a positive effect on children in their development, providing the skills necessary for school readiness. Learning music facilitates learning in other subjects as well–enhancing a child’s intellectual, social and emotional growth, motor skills, language skills, and overall literacy.Thank you, Joe Price!

The Lauer FundFor many years, mother and daughter Claire A. Lauer and Jean C. Lauer would make an annual donation to the Library for the purchase of audio books. When Claire A. Lauer passed away, her daughter Jean continued making these annual donations in memory of her mother.

Ten years ago, Jean C. Lauer sadly passed away, as well. It was then that we received a letter from her estate attorney, notifying us of the generous endowment which Ms. Lauer had made to the Library, with the request that we continue to purchase audio books for the Library.

We are deeply indebted to Jean C. Lauer and Claire A. Lauer for their enduring legacy. A decade has passed, and still the Lauer Fund continues to provide the funds for our audio book purchases. With this latest purchase through the Lauer Fund, we are pleased to announce that we will be adding the following new audio books to the Library’s collection.

Alaskan Holiday Animal Farm Anna Karenina The Art of War As You Wish Bachelor Girl The Bell Jar Brave New World The Bridges of Madison County
