This week: WEC student Lisa Bartlette to compete at ideaLabs 2011! Question of the Week—Win Pizza from Gionino’s! In 1973, this inventor’s phone call was the first step in a communications revolution that would forever change the way the world received information. He placed the call to a rival company while walking across a busy NYC street. When the technology was marketed to the general public about 10 years later, the price tag for this convenience was steep: $3,500 each! Now, over 25 years later, you can buy a disposable version of this device for less than $15. Who was the inventor, and what did he invent? To answer the Question of the Week, send your responses back to [email protected] by Thursday. The previous Question of the Week winner was Barbara Kundus, who correctly identified Douglas Engelbart as the inventor of the computer mouse. Good luck to WEC student Lisa Bartlette as she competes in the EEC’s ideaLabs on Thursday!
