What CCE Does The Center for Civic Engagement works with

communities within and beyond Binghamton University's campus to provide various rewarding and meaningful opportunities to students, faculty,

staff, alumni, and community members. Experiential Education

Nearly 100 community agencies, student groups, and faculty displayed their volunteer and

experiential learning options at CCE’s Showcase of Community Opportunities.

There are countless personal, academic, and professional benefits to getting more involved in

the Binghamton University community.

• Meaningful involvement with area communities

• Personal & professional growth

• Rewarding sense of contribution

• Improve your marketability

• Build teamwork & leadership skills

• Meet new people & foster important relationships

• Relieve stress and have FUN!

Benefits of Getting Involved

Experience-based education enhances the learning experience and allows individuals to utilize their knowledge and skills to make a

difference in a local, regional, and global context.

CCE is dedicated to helping students find the hands-on experiences they seek on campus and

throughout area communities. Locate the opportunity that matches your interests and

needs by visiting cce.binghamton.edu and searching our Service Listings database.

Opportunities CCE serves members of Binghamton University's community by exploring and developing ways to support and promote community involvement. A wide array of opportunities exist, including:

• Internships (credit & non-credit)

• Volunteer & service projects

• Community-based research projects

• Credit courses with community components

• Fundraisers to benefit community agencies

Partnerships Think bigger and work to build sustainable partnerships. CCE has established relationships

with area businesses, schools, nonprofits, area governments, as well as Binghamton University

student groups, faculty and staff.

Together with its partners, CCE evaluates resources and opportunities to provide the most

meaningful experiences in our community.

Education does not stop at the classroom door.

Binghamton students, alumni, and staff volunteers helped paint a mural at the Handicapped

Children’s Association as part of United Way’s community-wide Day of Caring service event.

CCE serves as the primary point of contact on campus for people to connect and develop

collaborative initiatives.
