Hello,Close your eyes and begin daydreaming. Think of a world you would like to live in. Did you do that? Now open your eyes and begin to create such world. Last year in Centre E8 was exactly like that. It wasn’t hard for us to close our eyes, think of a world fit for youth and then head in that direction. It’s because we believe that young people have super powers to change the world.

Annual reports are often needed. As often we don’t have the time nor the will to write boring documents, which have only one purpose – to be created and are never read by anyone. That’s why we presented the year 2011 through an iconographic and we decided to present year 2012 through texts and pictures.

Last year was marked by the economic crisis, political changes in Serbia and withdrawal of donors. That is why we worked and achieved more than ever before.

The programme for men reached its maximum last year. For now! We still have to explain that working on gender equality is not 5kg of a men and 5kg of a women and that working with young men is very important. MAN conference helped us a lot in doing that. During the conference we hosted 15 lecturers from 6 countries. Among them was one of the greatest experts Gerry Baker. Educational programme is now conducted in 12 cities in Serbia. Moreover, the number of cities and schools that are interested in joining the program is increasing every day. When we talk about violence, our main association is violence in sport. Because of that we decided to start dealing with this important problem.

I’m sure that you know that we love to dance and change the world with music.dance4life movement, during five years of implementation, mobilised over 15.000 young people, who danced for life without HIV. In 2012 we ended the programme implementation, but it doesn’t mean that this year we will not continue to dance and animate young people by having fun.

We have brought things to a higher level. “Don’t let others decide for you” is a slogan, which we shouted out loud during electoral campaign. Its purpose was to focus attention of politicians on young people, to include them in the agenda and to enable dialogue. It is a step towards more sustainable care for young people.

Media have always been our allies and that is why we decided to communicate with them. We are proud of the radio show Centriranje, which is broadcasted every Sunday on radio B92 as well as on 40 local radio stations in Serbia.

At the end of the year the “Real man” campaign took place. In its framework we finally launched the yearly Real man award (it was one of those ideas that you fail to implement for years). We also promoted a calendar with 12 celebrities, which we believe is on your desk or wall. Additionally, we showed a film about “Be a man” project for the first time.

When Centre E8 was born, it was born with the idea to use theatre in education. Our great success is that we came back on the scene after couple of years of break. The “Macho men”, made in coproduction with BITEF Theatre, was announced by NIN magazine as one of the three best shows of 2012.

You are the best. You can do anything.

See you later.

Super E8 logo

Uvek veruje u bolje.

We believe that young people possess super powers that can change the world. The story behind our logo is a story about super powers and heroes. How does our designer describe it? “The logo is actually a symbolic representation of the ‘blue sphere’ – the Earth – wearing geeky glasses shaped like the symbol of infinity. All together this represents the infinite education of mankind. The logo is also youth friendly and follows the stories of super heroes – what are active, socially responsible citizens, if not super heroes?”

The logo was designed by Predrag Stakić, the author of international human rights logo.

Predrag Stakić was born in 1978. He lives and works in Belgrade as a freelance graphic designer, that is, a free artist. During census he declared himself as a creative human being. He claims that it is every artists’ duty to embed something better for a better tomorrow in his or her art. Social activity should be an obligation of every normal human being, he believes. He is internationally recognized as the creator of universal Human Rights Logo. Witty, sincere, open and straightforward he always believes in something better. He founded an informal movement called “Domestic Uppers” (Domaći dizajnici) with a goal to gather local people who like to take things to a new level. His favourite poem is “If” by Rudyard Kipling.

It was a great pleasure for him to design Centre E8’s visual identity because, in his own words, “The world begins with the young”.

Inovativnim kampanjama, upotrebom društvenih mreža i raznovrsnim metodologijama rada edukujemo mlade na teme zdravi stilovi života, rodna ravnopravnost, prevencija nasilja i značaj aktiviranja u društvu.

Svet u kome mladi slobodno i ravnopravno izražavaju svoje osobenosti i upravljaju sopstvenim životom.

Centre E8 is a youth organisation focused on work with young people across Serbia. With our innovative campaigns, use of social networks and diverse methodologies we educate the young about healthy lifestyles, gender equality, prevention of violence and the importance of being socially active. Our team is made up from young advocacy and lobbying experts in youth policy, education and campaigning for publicly relevant issues. They are very active in the field of human rights in Serbia.

What is our vision?A world where young people can freely and equally express their personality and be in charge of their own life.

What is our mission? We are young people who work with youth and for youth. We empower young people to discover super powers and become superheroes of their own lives and the society.

What are our topics? For five years now we have been active in the area of gender equality. Distinctive trait of our work is the focus on young men whom we recognized as a significant part of society that needs education on this topic. We aim to develop and enforce positive changes in attitudes and behaviour of men. As part of the project “Young men initiative for the prevention of gender based violence in North West Balkans” we did a campaign titled “Be a man” for which we were awarded “PRiZNANJE” – an award by Public Relations Society of Serbia for best communication campaigns, projects and initiatives in the category of “Public and non-profit sector”.

We continuously educate young people about violence prevention in order to improve the conditions for their safe living. Our work is focused on different social groups and decision-makers because this way we can comprehensively raise awareness about the issue of violence in our society and the potential mechanisms for its reduction and eradication.

We promote healthy lifestyles through many different projects. We aim to improve mental, sexual and reproductive health of young people using diverse methodologies such as the use of drama in education and educating people through dance and music. Apart from education, we advocate for introduction of educational school programmes about mental, sexual and reproductive health of the young and equal access to health care for all social groups.

To encourage, motivate and empower young people – that is our motto! We strive to empower young people to be active citizens through volunteering programmes. We also work toward improving youth work for the purpose of solving different social issues. Because this is the basis of activism. We also develop projects and programmes in the field of youth policy and youth work. Centre E8 is also accredited for EVS (European Voluntary Service), the programme of the European Commission that enables us to send young volunteers from Serbia to the EU countries, as well as to host volunteers from the EU in Centre E8.

We see media as our important partner and a significant communication channel with Serbian citizens. Good cooperation with the media is vital for improving the image of young people in the media and their involvement in creation of quality media programmes and content for their peers.

One of the biggest problems in our society is youth unemployment. Everybody has the right to equal chances and one of our goals is to improve economic status of young people by implementing youth employment programmes and urging companies to be socially responsible. Being in constant contact with the young we have recognized unemployment as a very serious problem and we will address it actively in our future work.

We are actively fostering youth culture and creativity through art education of young people, creation of artwork, organisation of cultural events and lobbying for greater impact and visibility of youth art. This way we educate them, develop their creativity and support their further development.

Discrimination is often a consequence of ignorance or prejudice. We are trying to reduce discrimination among the young by promoting intercultural competences and by educating them about human rights and civil liberties. Although significant changes have been made through implementation of anti-discrimination campaigns that young people could understand and relate to, and through work with minority groups and for inclusion of Roma, there is still much work to be done.

2012: New Balkan Boy

If we teach the boys to respect women, preserve themselves and not be violent, we will be just one step closer to change. High school teachers play an important role in shaping the minds of children they meet every day. Teachers themselves often have difficulties understanding what causes violent behaviour and have no idea how to address this issue. In cooperation with Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and our partner CARE we have tried to answer the question HOW?

“M Programme: Training on prevention of violence” is a training programme designed for high school staff, teachers and other employees. The aim of the first level of training was to introduce school staff with different aspects of widespread violence between high school students. Participants had the opportunity to see and hear numerous examples of good practice that can be applied to regular high school programmes. Workshops were a part of carefully developed methodology that answers the questions and offers solutions. What is violence? What causes violence? Why are boys more often violent than girls? How to talk about violence with high school kids? Over 50 high school employees from Belgrade schools attended the training and were enthusiastic about learning something new.

Based on the Real Men Forum the Real Man Campaign also focuses on men with the aim to prevent violence and foster gender equality. We believe that by changing attitudes and behaviour of men in society we can bring about better conditions for both men and women, nonviolent behaviour and gender equality. This campaign included 24 public events in 12 different cities in Serbia.

“Real Man” Award

Marko Somborac, the author of short comics in Blic daily newspaper is “Real Man” award first laureate for 2012. This award is given to individuals who advocate the principles of human rights, gender equality, tolerance, humanity, non-violence and democracy. The idea is to give “Real Man” award to those who can be role models and give positive example of masculinity to young men and boys. All men, be they fathers, friends, decision-makers or leaders play a very significant part in the fight against violence, thus becoming positive role models for young people through their social activism. Award giving ceremony was held on November 19th - the International Men’s Day – in Nebojsa Tower in Belgrade. Apart from the award winner, speeches were also made by Norwegian Ambassador Nils Ragnar Kamsvåg, Jovan Grubić from E8 Centre and Jelena Bogavac, jury member.

“Gender equality is one of the most important goals for modern civilized world. If we involve men and boys and contribute to the formation of their attitudes we can build a more gender equal society. In the process of achieving gender equality these men need positive role models. This is why we have to show them who real men are. One of them is with us tonight.” – said Jovan Grubić from E8 Centre.

Members of the “Real Man” award 2012 jury were: Mirjana Karanović – actress, Filip Švarm – editor in chief of Vreme magazine, Branislav Lečić – actor, Jelena Bogavac – director and Vojislav Arsić – executive director, Centar E8.

Intervju sa Markom Somborcem, dobitnikom nagrade ‘’Pravi muškarac’’ 2012.

Interview with Marko Somborac, “Real Man” award winner for 2012.

Pored toga, pitali smo ga kako vidi mlade, šta smatra svojim najvećim dostigunućem, o čemu najčešće mašta i ko su njegovi heroji i heroine...

He’s witty, spontaneous and, in his own words, has his feet on the ground. In his own interesting way he deals with all kinds of topics in his comics, from politics and social problems to celebrities. His name is Marko Somborac and he won the Real Man award for 2012. Upon acceptance of the award he said: “I think this campaign is much more important than myself. I think we should stand united in the fight to break down stereotypes about men in the Balkans and especially in the fight against violence in our society. I am pleased that the public and this jury found enough sense in my work to give me this award.”

We asked Marko how he sees today’s youth, what he considers his greatest achievement, what he dreams about and who his heroes are... Can you list 8 key traits of young people?Young people today or in general? I’m an old lad, but if I remember well, those would be: seeking acceptance, quest for meaning, resistance to authorities, blissful irresponsibility that we all knew and loved and also quests for fun and love and everything that goes along. That’s about it, 6 out of 8 – not a bad score. It seems to be mostly about seeking something.

What are the biggest problems of today’s youth? That may very well be hopelessness that the entire society is feeling, not just them. But if they want to make a change, they’d better start while they still have at least some sort of youthful zeal. I can’t say I’m the best example of that and I’m not even sure these stories can make a change, however, those that feel the need to do something – they will probably do it anyway.

What makes the world a better place?I honestly hope – if that’s even possible – that all it takes is faith. To have faith in your goals, not give up, and push for what you believe in.

If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?Your old lad Marko knows that superpowers are not the solution. The solution is to confront your problems in life with the powers you have. If you face the problems instead of running away from them – you’ve already won because you tried. This is something I try to apply myself, although it doesn’t always work.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? It’s still early to start measuring my achievements but I’m happy to be able to do what I’ve loved since I was a little kid.

Who are your real life heroes?people whose good deeds make me become a better man.

What do you fantasize about?peaceful life without all the stress we’ve been exposed to lately...

Twitter or Facebook? This old lad uses neither, but I’ll choose Twitter because it is brief and concise.

Režiju filma potpisuje Marko Popović, a scenario Miša Stojiljković.

The consequences of the breakdown of Yugoslavia can be seen through the return of traditional and patriarchal norms in the newly established states. Today, young men, high school students entered a new era that came after the conflict and they do not have memories of the war during the 90’s. Young men in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia are looking for new role models, and some have begun to question order of gender inequality and violence that was prevalent throughout the region.

“Be a Man” is a term that has traditionally encouraged the negative behavior of boys. Because of this the project that has been running for five years in the Balkans has a name that drives young people to ask – what does “Be a man” mean? What does the life of boys who are part of this project look like? How does their work, personal change and efforts to change something look seen through camera?

Through the story of a teenager from Sarajevo, whose mother divorced his father because of domestic violence, we will find out how he avoided all the obstacles and pressures of society, became a youth activist and peer educator. Sixteen year-old guy from Zagreb, also from a divorced marriage is trying to explain to his friends why he thinks it is okay to have a gay friend. Seventeen year old guy from a small town in Serbia speaks about the impact of “Be a man” club, collects old books, and organizes poetry nights instead of drinking with the guys in front of the local grocery store.

The move is directed by Marko Popović, screenplay by Miša Stojiljković.

Kalendar “Pravi muškarac“ 2013.Calendar “Real man” 2013.

Real men stand for gender equality, non-violence and healthy lifestyles, 7 days a week, 12 months a year! For this reason, we have designed and developed a calendar that contains 12 photos and messages from real men for 12 months of the year. Every month and every public figure delivers a message with values we stand for. On 10th December on the occasion of International Human Rights Day we organised the promotion of “Real man’’ calendar for 2013 in the club Krug. Real men who supported the campaign and took pictures for the calendar are Viktor Savić, Dragan Ilić, Damjan Eltech, Goran Jevtić, Dragan Bjelogrlić, Srđa Popović, Neven Bošković, Zoran Kesić, Igor Lazić - Niggor, John Ćirilov, Galeb Nikačević and Sergej Trifunović.

Pesmu izvode BMK Beograd i Rima Roma.

Does the sound that sets speakers on fire reach you?

Inclusion has always been an important part of each project conducted by the Centre E8.“Rima - Roma” creative workshops have proven it again in the best possible way. The participants in this musical workshops were young Roma and young men from the fourth Belgrade gymnasium and high school for the shipping, shipbuilding and hydro building who are activists of ‘’Be a Man’’ clubs in those schools.

Marija Balubdžić (R-point) fulfilled the goal. “Typical” Roma song analysed and interpreted in a new and interesting way is a great formula for this. The guys went through the whole process of composing a song from analysing text, musical forms and the role of individual elements to learning how to make a musical arrangement and how to combine the sounds of different instruments. Through this workshop the youngsters were also analyzing the lyrics and through the entire process the “Be a Man” members were introduced to some of the key aspects of Roma culture, while their Roma friends had a chance to show their dancing and musical skills.

“The sound that sets speakers on fire”

Song performed by Be a Man Club Belgrade and Rima - Roma. Produced by Smart Collective with Liceulice – Regional Platform for activism as executive producer. The song was created through music workshops in cooperation with Centre E8, Dispatch, R Point and Grubb, with the financial support of CARE NWB, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swiss Cultural Programme.

Statement: Uroš Radulović - student of School for shipping, shipbuilding and hydro building

‘’Through the “Be a Man” workshops I learned a lot of important things that I did not know earlier. I began to respect women more, the opinions of others and diversity. As a member of the “Be a Man” club I participated in the “Rima - Roma” workshops with Roma rap group Grubb, whose goal is to fight discrimination against Roma and other minorities. After only 2 days of work and the good time we spent together, we made the song “The sound that sets speakers on fire” which promotes tolerance and non-violence. With this song we participated in street festival of activism “Vreva.” Also, I have gained a lot of leadership skills by participating in the two last “Be a Man” summer camps - in Istria in Croatia as well as in Bela Crkva. I have met many new friends from different places and seen a lot of beautiful things along with socializing and gaining new knowledge.’’

“Budi muško” u zajednici“Be a man” in the community

Trodnevni treninizi obrađuju teme nasilja, seksualnog i reproduktivnog zdravlja, psiho aktivnih supstanci i rodne ravnopravnosti. Kroz diskusije, glumu, crtanje u prijatnoj atmosferi poverenja i učenja podstičemo misaone procese u glavama mladih.

586 boys and 228 girls took part in a total of 393 “Be a Man” workshops.

Does your city have a “Be a man” club?

Working in local communities is very important component of our work. Through education about gender equality and violence prevention with young people all over Serbia, we initiate change.

Super heroes supporting our guys are trained youth workers. Meetings of the “Be a man” clubs, organizing public events and trainings are their most important task. The work of youth workers encourages personal, educational and social development of the members of the Be a man club and shows positive changes in their attitudes and behavior. At the same time our basic ideas and messages continue to be spread in the community and contribute to the well-being in a direct or indirect way through public actions. Like us, they believe that only through struggle against violence, gender inequality and unhealthy lifestyles can our living environment be improved.

This kind of approach to work in local communities helped us achieve great success.

Some of the results are:

We have organized a big number of training sessions, and 586 boys and 228 girls took part in a total of 393 “Be a Man” workshops. The three-day training courses are tackling issues of violence, sexual and reproductive health, psycho active substances and gender equality. Through discussion, acting, drawing in a pleasant atmosphere of trust and learning we encourage thinking processes in the minds of the young people. We are building positive attitudes and trying to answer all the questions, some of which are asked by these young men for the first time.

Boys have organized 96 public events and a total of 5430 people took part. It is estimated that the positive message of “Be a man” clubs has reached 27,000 people across Serbia.

Over 400 members of the “Be a Man” clubs from Kragujevac, Prijepolje, Novi Pazar, Temerin, Kikinda, Backi Petrovac, Smederevo, Loznica, Velika Plana, Obrenovac, Kladovo and Blace are on the right track of becoming “real man”.

Plemeniti džinovi “Budi muško” spotrtisti iz Ragbi kluba “Crvena Zvezda”

Noble giants - “Be a Man” sportsmen from Rugby Club “Red Star”

After 5 years of successful work with high school students across Serbia, Centre E8 started working with sport clubs on violence prevention in 2012. The first among them is the sport for real men, famous for promotion of non-violence world-wide - rugby.Young rugby players took part in the whole cycle of 20 workshops after their regular trainings. For most of them this was the first time they participated in this type of education.

Ivica Đorđević, rugby player‘’This is the first time I am participating in these kind of workshops and it is great because I am learning a lot. For me, the biggest impression is that we realized how much people from our surrounding influence our attitudes. I think younger generations are more and more violent. The problem is that they have no control and the bad influence they are exposed to leads to large amounts of aggression.’’

About the co-operation between the Centre E8 and Rugby Club ‘’Red Star’’ (Crvena zvezda) it was said:

Vojislav Arsić, director of E8‘’We always see violence in sport and it is very important that instead of criticizing these incidents we start addressing this problem with education and active involvement of sport players in the fight against violence and promotion of gender equality. Working with young men has always been a challenge, but the good thing is that the idea of a new Balkan man who is tolerant and non-violent is becoming a positive thing and that we requires continuous work. We are pleased that we have established cooperation with the rugby club Red Star and I hope that this will be just the beginning of cooperation with other sports associations.’’

Željko Delić, director of rugby club ‘’Red Star’’ (Crvena Zvezda)‘’Sports players are young people who should be the model for the rest of society. We will always support the fight against violence, especially because that is the problem which has recently culminated in our society. Around the world, rugby is a sport known for promoting tolerance and non-violence so we are pleased that we were the first to join the “Be a Man” movement.

“Budi muško – budi ragbista” kamp“Be a man – be a rugby player” camp

Noble giants - “Be a Man” sportsmen from Rugby Club “Red Star” Saradnju sa Ragbi klubom Crvena Zvezda, krunisali smo odlaskom na edukativni kamp.

The highlight of cooperation with the Rugby Club Red star (Crvena Zvezda) was the educational camp. We used this opportunity for guys from “Be a man” clubs who are interested in sports to spend a few days learning how to play rugby while the rugby players learned from them and our trainers about gender equality and violence.

Activities at the camp were divided into two parts: during the morning young men participated in educational “Be a Man” workshops, and in the afternoon they played rugby. “Be a Man” workshops included the issues of gender equality, emphasizing positive change of attitudes and behavior among young men, with the explicit aim of preventing violence. Rugby training sessions were designed in a way that Red Star rugby club players teach other camp participants the basics of the sport, with the aim of making this sport more common to youngsters, emphasizing that this very physically demanding sport can be used to promote fair play and non-violence. The boys were thrilled by the fact that in a very short time they learned basics and they were able to play rugby with the professionals from the Red Star.

“Budi muško” u srednjim školama“Be a Man” in high schools

Rad u Tehničkoj školi Novi Beograd podrazumeva ceo ciklus edukativnih radionica, kao i prateću “Budi muško” kampanju, tokom cele školske 2012/2013. godine. Svi učenici i učenice prvog i drugog razreda ove škole, ukupno 216, pohađa naše osnovne radionice, a preko stotinu učenika će proći i napredni nivo radionica.

“Tizer” kampanja u Tehničkoj školi Novi Beograd je privukla veliku pažnju učenika i učenica, uz postere i pravilnike “Budi muško kluba”, a ponajviše akcijom crtanja “Budi muško” grafita postavljenog u holu škole i akcijom “testiranja” i regrutovanja novih članova kluba u dvorištu škole.

Two football tournaments took place in the School of shipping, shipbuilding and hydro building and IV gymnasium. Teams were made up of boys and girls. Girls were better!

Radna grupa za standardizaciju programa Working Group for standardization of the program

“Wow, school is so wonderful “

Center E8 and CARE NW Balkan are implementing program M which consists of 20 educational workshops, conducted by our skilled trainers, dealing with prevention of violence, drug and alcohol abuse and promotion of gender equality and sexual and reproductive health.

In 2012 this program was implemented in three high schools in Belgrade: School for the shipping, shipbuilding and hydro building, IV gymnasium and Technical school New Belgrade, where we worked with the first and second grade students.

Work in Technical school New Belgrade contains the whole cycle of educational workshops, as well as “Be a Man” campaign throughout the whole 2012/2013 school year. All first and second grade students, in total 216, attend our basic workshops, and more than a hundred students will attend advanced level workshops. Before the start of this working model, we conducted baseline survey with students and the end line survey will be conducted at the end of the school year, after the educational intervention. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the 3-day training courses that will be organized outside of Belgrade, as well as

creative workshops dealing with film, music and photos, with accompanying public actions.

“Teaser” campaign at technical school New Belgrade has attracted great attention of students, with “Be a man club” posters and rules, but mostly with the action of drawing “Be a man” graffiti in the school hall and the action of “testing” and recruiting new members to the club in the school yard.

Students took part in the following workshops in the school: What is this thing called gender?, Power and Relationships, Health, STIs, and HIV and AIDS, Men and Contraception, What is Violence? Negotiation Skills, What are Drugs?, Decision-Making and Substance Use, Labeling, Expressing my Emotions, Young Men’s Health, Can a man like another man?, Want…Don’t want, Want…Don’t want, Understanding the Cycle of Violence, What is Sexual Violence?, A live Fool or a Dead Hero: Male Honor, What Do I do when I am Angry?, From Violence to Respect in Intimate Relationships, Drugs in our lives and our communities, Community action: Making changes in our lives and in our communities

How can our program be implemented in every school in Serbia?

We organized a meeting of the working group for the standardization of a sustainable program for prevention of violence in schools. Working group meeting was held in Croatia in Crkvenica, and it was attended by representatives of the relevant institutions and organizations like the Gender equality directorate, two Belgrade high schools, Ministry of education and science -violence preventionunit, as well as our experienced trainers and John Crownover, a representative of CARE International. This working group has significantly contributed to the continuation of the development of the standardized model for secondary schools.

Letnji kampoviSummer camps

During the summer guys involved in the project “Young men as agents of change in the society without violence in the Western Balkans – Be a man “ had a chance to participate in different camps. These camps were a great opportunity for them to acquire new knowledge and to make new friends and meet other members of “Be a man” clubs from the country and the region. This is one of the ways to break prejudice about people of different nationality and religion.

“The National Youth Leadership Camp” was held in Bela Crkva, with the most active members of the local “Be a Man” clubs as participants. They took part in workshops on leadership skills as well as various sports and team building activities and games. They also had the chance for swimming in the lake and enjoying some free time.

Participants had the opportunity to learn and develop their leadership skills by attending workshops on the topics of characteristics and qualities of good leaders, team and group, team roles, public speaking, organizing events. The knowledge and skills acquired will be useful upon return to their cities and this way the “Be a man” clubs will be empowered.

Team building activities included various games aimed at encouraging teamwork and team spirit. Sports competitions were held at the nearby courts and there was plenty of time for creative workshops and swimming in the lake as well.

Pored toga, momke je oduševila i ekskurzija najpre do Pule, uz obilazak Arene i centra grada i odlazak brodom do čuvenog nacionalnog parka Brioni.

The first one was “Regional youth leadership camp” in a camp of “Veli Jože” in Istra in Croatia that gathered over 40 young men from “Be a man” club from Zagreb, Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Kosovska Mitrovica, Mostar, Prishtina, Belgrade and other cities in Serbia. This was the fourth regional camp and it is evident that these camps organised annually provide significant results in breaking prejudice about neighbouring nations. Many of the boys had never left Serbia or came into contact with neighbours of different ethnicity or religion. After breaking the ice they quickly realized how similar they are, and how much they have in common - the same interests, desires, intentions, and very small differences. Like in the previous camps the guys had become true friends and stayed in touch even after the end of the camp.During educational workshops young people acquired new knowledge and leadership skills that will contribute significantly to the management of local “Be a Man” clubs, and will also be useful life skills. Team spirit was reinforced through various team-building activities, sport matches in football, basketball, volleyball and table tennis. The young men had the opportunity to swim and enjoy the beach near the camp and one day was dedicated to visiting Adrenalin park. In addition, the guys were excited about the trip to Pula, with a tour of the Arena and the city centre and a boat ride to the famous national park Brioni.

‘’Some of the boys got their passports for the first time to go to this camp. Some of them never left Serbia nor had any contact with neighbours of different ethnicity or religion. One of the boys got his passport in the very last minute. It was a pleasure to watch them make friendships and learn and develop together at the camp.’’

Tokom 2012. godine smo imali veliki broj aktivnosti u okviru programa ,,Mladi u akciji’’ (Youth in Action).

30 mladih Evropljanki i Evropljana.

Na treningu ‘’Never let discrimination strike the same place twice’’ je učestvovalo 37 mladih ljudi iz Holandije, Italije, Portugala, Francuske, Poljske, Estonije, Turske, Azerbejdžana, Hrvatske, Bosne i Hercegovine, Crne Gore i Srbije.

In 2012 year we had quite a few activities within the “Youth in Action’’ programme. “Youth in Action’’ is a youth program of the European Union that promotes mobility of young people through international activities and non-formal education, such as youth exchanges, voluntary services, youth initiatives and trainings for young people.

This year we organized two international trainings in the framework of the “Youth in Action’’ programme and hosted four female and three male volunteers from the European Union within the European Voluntary Service.Inspired by the fact that in the discussions about people from other countries we can often hear various stereotypes, we decided to check this for ourselves. You can hear that people in Italy are communicative, cheerful, musical, but also frivolous and superficial, that in Germany they are hardworking, disciplined, but selfish and aggressive, in Portugal, Spain and Greece people are hedonists, in the Scandinavian countries they are hard working but cold. Frequently, these views can be heard by young people who have not had the opportunity to meet and socialize with young people from other countries.

This is exactly what inspired us to organize international training “No Labels, please!’’ which gathered 30 young Europeans. The training was focused on the problems of stereotypes, prejudice, gender (in)equality and discrimination against women, using theatre and non-formal education. As the final result of the training, we organised a performance involving young people from Italy, Russia, Croatia, Macedonia, Ukraine, Kosovo, Greece, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia.

After the success of the first training we decided to continue with this good practice. The training “Never let discrimination strike the same place twice’’ was attended by 37 young people from the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, France, Poland, Estonia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia. Main goal of the training was to open space for discussion, learning and sharing experiences in the field of discrimination and gender equality among young people, to develop their knowledge and skills in these areas in order for them to be able to recognize these phenomena and how to fight them, to develop communication skills in resolving crisis through verbal and non-verbal communication.

15 young people from Serbia participated in trainings within the “Youth in Action’’ programme in different countries in 2012.

Evropski volonterski servis (EVS)

European Voluntary Service (EVS) is a part of the “Youth in Action’’ programme. EVS enables young people to volunteer in other countries from 2 to 12 months with all expenses covered. Centre E8 is accredited to send volunteers from Serbia to more than 30 European countries.

In order to promote EVS the campaign “Volunteer of Europe’’ was launched on International Youth Day. Within the campaign various activities were organized in several locations in Belgrade. One of the actions included the possibility for the people interested in this volunteering program to “borrow” an actual volunteer for a certain period of time in order to obtain general information about EVS, but also to hear a first-hand, personal experience. Apart from this we organised public actions in high schools and faculties in Belgrade. The programme was presented at several festivals, fairs, as well in Info-room, all with the aim to inspire young people to spend part of their lives abroad, to gain new experiences and to experience Europe at its best.

Seven young people volunteered in Centre E8 in 2012 through EVS. They were from Portugal, Luxembourg, UK, Poland, France and Estonia.

Izjava: Madli Kaljula, EVS volonterka u Centru E8:

Naučila sam mnogo o implementaciji programa, pisanju, promociji, organizaciji YIA treninga i generalno kako funkcioniše NVO uopšte. Osećam kako konačno odrastam u predivnom međunarodnom okruženju sa mnogo neverovatnih ljudi, drugačijoj kulturi i poslu sa puno izazova.’’

Statement: Madli Kaljula, EVS volunteer in Center E8

“As a young person, who had just finished high school, I had so many opportunities ahead of me. I could have gone to the university like all my other classmates did and follow the typical path of life, but I didn’t. I chose to be part of the European Voluntary Service and until now I’m not regretting my decision. I would be lying, if I say that my EVS turned out exactly the way I imagined it to be, because sometimes reality is different from the words in the project description. I’m not saying that the reality was worse, it was just different. When I arrived to Serbia I was ready to act, save the world and do so much more. I guess I was the typical “newborn” international volunteer full of enthusiasm, who was just waiting for the instructions how to do that all. But there weren’t any clear instructions, surprisingly I had to use my own ideas and thoughts more often than usual and with my fresh memories from high school it wasn’t so easy, because I was used to complete the task with certain instructions. However, I think it’s good that it happened, because I feel independent and responsible more than ever. I know more about project implementation, writing, promoting, organising YiA trainings and about the work in NGOs as a whole. I feel that I’m finally growing up in this wonderful international environment with lot of amazing people, different culture and work what is full of new challenges. (I think life is too short to spend it in a one place, so volunteer and make your life a journey.)”

Page 43: Centar E8e8.org.rs/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Godisnji-izveštaj-OSMICA-201… · Voli da se šali, iskren, otvoren i direktan. Uvek veruje u bolje.

U prvim mesecima 2012. godine radili smo intenzivno na pripremi kampanje - istraživanja o izlaznosti mladih, predstavljanje projektnih ideja, identifikovanje donatora i prikupjanje sredstava.

“Please just skip politics”, “Come on, whom should I vote for?”, “They’re all the same”, “What’s in it for me” are some of the most common attitudes of young people during local and national elections. At the same time, posts on Facebook, tweets, stories during breaks in school, in bakeries and bars reflect more and more the attitudes of young people about changes needed in the educational system, in their local neighborhoods including sport fields and the city as a whole. With that in mind, at the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012, we started to do some research on the attitudes of young people towards elections and whether or not they see elections as a chance to make some of their ideas a reality. And that is how we came up with the idea for the project “Don’t let others decide for you”.

Since the beginning, “Don’t let others decide for you” was not planned to be just a standard GOTV campaign for youth but a campaign for promoting youth activism by empowering young people to speak out their ideas and to use them as a lobby tool towards the decision makers. It was simple: we realized that unless we as young people express our attitudes, advocate for them and demand them to be taken into account by political parties and unless we influence the parties’ programmes those programmes and future decisions made by politicians will be based only on the demands of other age groups of the society. This way all of our ideas about better educational system, sport fields, neighborhood, the city remain only in the circle of friends without the possibility of ever being put into action. That’s why the project was titled “Don’t let others decide for you”. Apart from the need to empower young people to take matters in their own hands and to become active members of society, another aim of the project was to make political parties interested in the attitudes of young people and to make the future decision makers act according to that.

Young people under 30 were the primary target group of the project, but it was particularly important to engage a big number of first voters in the activities which is why we established partnership with Union of secondary school students of Serbia from the very beginning.

In the first months of 2012 we worked hard on preparing the campaign by doing research on the youth voter turnout, presentation of the project idea, identifying donors and fundraising. After signing the contract with Institute for Sustainable Communities the campaign activities started.

If only all of youth demands could be found in one place…

“Izaberi” crew all over the city

20 volunteers joined the project from the start and already made plans for project activities during their first training. One of the first activities was to ask young people about their ideas, stand points, critique and opinion in 10 different locations during 10 days. Students, workers and those hanging around not doing much from different areas of the city spoke about their attitudes to the camera. They were then published on the internet platform and shared through social networks. Better public transport, more bicycle tracks, metro, decorated parks, different school curricula are just some of the ideas of young people on how to improve our city. It was up to us to bring public attention to those issues and most of all the attention of the decision makers and those to be. We managed to gather the opinion of young people with the help of these “portable open mics”

www.izaberi.rs was the first one to make it happen! In order to evoke discussions and gather youth demands in one place we created an internet platform where any young person can leave a message in writing or in the form of video, photo, etc. In order to promote the platform we actively spread the news through social networks, but that’s not all – we organised various activities for launching the platform and enabled young people who do not use or do not have access to internet to express their attitudes on the platform. The first activity was the tweetUP - decideUP – that gathered active users of twitter and the second one was “Open mic” where any young person that passed by had the chance to express their opinion, idea or critique at the Republic square and not just to their friends they were meeting there but also to the camera that was broadcasted on izaberi.rs.

Do you, political party, take these attitudes of young people of Belgrade…?

All of the standpoints of young people gathered during weeks of street and online actions were put together in ProGLAS – a declaration that sums up the ideas of young people with the aim to find its way to the exposés of the political parties. In order to make this happen we organised meetings with political parties running in elections. This youth declaration was signed by 3 political groups – Democratic party (Demokratska stranka), Turnover coalition (lista za Preokret) and United Regions of Serbia (Ujedinjeni regioni Srbije) – although we tried hard for weeks to present the needs and demands of young people to each political party.

Izaberi u medijima!

Izaberi in the media!

Two promo videos, three advertisements and three video clips were shared on the social networks in order to promote the demands of young people towards political parties. “I don’t want internet censorship”, “I want teachers to be more interested in us” and a lot more of attitudes were integrated in the videos inviting young people to share their demands with their peers through izaberi.rs. The advertisements were created with the aim to show what it’s like when someone else decides for you – e.g. when the taxi driver is the one choosing which centre of the city to take us to. The video clips were the biggest success among youth. We created Serbian versions of popular songs by Adele, Rihanna and Maroon 5. The lyrics were about the importance of youth activism. “Not everything is about PR! I respect your marketing team, but I don’t plan to live with them! When the campaign is over, I want to know, WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU’RE ELECTED?”

During the “Don’t let others decide for you” campaign in conspiracy with the DJ we played classical music in the middle of the party in the “ Plastic” club. That’s what can happen when you let others decide for you!

Izaberi u zvučnicima, Izaberi na platnu!

Izaberi on the speakers, Izaberi on screen!

The campaign messages were not only spread on the internet but all over the city. Posters and flyers in the public transport and schools are some of the promotional materials. And then the campaign entered clubs and cinemas. In order to show to young clubbers what it feels like when someone else is deciding for them, we decided for Beethoven to be played one night in Plastic instead of Antoine Clamaran. We decided for young movie lovers to see Godzila instead of alternative movies at Beldocs festival. Before the projection of the movie the audience was suppose to see, we put out a message saying “The management of this cinema has decided that tonight you’d be watching famous movie Godzilla” and played this movie for a few minutes. By doing this we wanted to show that if we don’t decide ourselves on the government we want someone else will decide for us and if we don’t like it there’ll be no use in crying over spilt milk.

With flash mobs at pedestrian crossings in the city centre, we invited young drivers to be involved in the campaign and go out to vote in the upcoming elections.

“Not everything is about PR! I respect your marketing team, but I don’t plan to live with them! When the campaign is over, I want to know, WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU’RE ELECTED?”

“Ma nije sve PR! Poštujem tvoj reklamni tim! Ali ne planiram da živim sa njim! Kada kampanja prodje hocuda znam ŠTA KAD DODJEŠ NA VLAST??”

Pa izaberi! So, decide!

In the last weeks before the elections we organized street action in squares and parks, where big ballot boxes were placed in the street and we talked with people about the elections, the casting of the vote and the importance of voting. This activity was a “voting simulation” and it also involved a survey where passers-by were asked to chose what future Government’s priorities should be. The night before the elections we gathered at the Republic square (“by the horse”) for another Tweet-UP in order to get people on the square and the internet aware of the importance of active civic participation. All those who didn’t go to vote in the morning could see videos of celebrities voting, on the internet. These celebrity persons were invited to share with us and the camera their reasons for voting and to invite young people to do the same. On 6th May we organised youth headquarters where young people were following the elections.

In order to ensure that the political parties will fulfill their promises given to young people we planned from the beginning to actively monitor the decisions of the new government and its compatibility with the demands stated in ProGLAS which they have agreed to by signing it.

Round table “Analysis of the past and the upcoming plans of the city authorities in the field of youth policy”

OKRUGLI STO “Analiza dosadašnjih rezultata i buducih planova gradske vlasti u oblasti omladinske politike”

– checked!

Another mechanism of monitoring the results was the round table organised in the Belgrade City Hall on the topic of “ProGLAS (Youth declaration) - Analysis of the past and the upcoming plans of the city authorities in the field of youth policy” that gathered representative of major political parties and youth representatives. The incumbent parties were in power for 100 days at the time and young people wanted to see what has been done and mainly to give out a message that they are ready to get involved in future steps in changing the city and the society.

The speakers at the round table were representatives of National Youth Council of Serbia, Democratic Party, Serbian Progressive Party and Liberal-democratic party who shared their views on what has been done do far for the improvement of the status of young people as well as the current and future plans for developing Belgrade to be an attractive city for the young.

During 11 months there were dozens of actions, appointments, stress, organising, singing to the same tune all of which marked the “Don’t let others decide for you” campaign and the declaration ProGLAS is a basis for future monitoring of the work of the local government in Belgrade and cooperation. The first step for a better Belgrade 2016 – checked!

”dance4life is a movement which includes young people in active fight against HIV/AIDS and promotes healthy lifestyles. Trough my music I address young people and I’m glad that my engagement as an ambassador for dance4life gives me an opportunity to draw attention to good things and make and influence, together with the young people, on this world becoming a better place” Ana Stanić, dance4life ambassador

During the project implementation in Serbia more than 15000 young people have been educated. Young people take part in three educational phases and develop their knowledge about reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and they also develop their communication and social skills. This project also encourages young people to organize this type of action in their local communities which helps raising awareness of these problems. All of this is accomplished by street actions, flash-mobs and school activities. After these three steps, young person becomes agent4change, and culmination of schools4life is dance4life event. This event is held on the weekend before 1st December, World Aids Day, every second year when over 100 000 young people from every continent dance for life at the same time. This project in Serbia was implemented by seven NGOs: JAZAS, Centre E8, Centre Living Upright Novi Sad, Iskra Loznica, Youth creative centre Jagodina, Generator Vranje and Youth office Novi Pazar, and in 2012 three more organizations joined dance4life: NGO

Rainbow from Šabac, KOM 018 Niš and Volunteer centre Prokuplje.

Apart from numerous actions on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, International AIDS Memorial Day and Youth day, dance4life was once again a part of Sensation in Belgrade in 2012. Sensation became our partner in 2010. For each ticket sold for Sensation Amsterdam, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Spain and Russia € 0.50 is given to dance4life for further work on education of young people. Sensation held a party in Belgrade called “Innerspace” which was attended by more than 13 000 people.

In November 2012 we have finished the implementation of dance4life project. During these five years of working on this project we have learned that dancing is a great method for working with young people. That is why we will continue to dance and use dancing as a method for educating and animating young people and getting them to become active in their community.

In 2012 three new organizations from Prokuplje, Niš and Šabac joined dance4life.

dance4life - young people gain knowledge, skills and possibilities to become active locally and thus influence change globally

“Muškarčine” predstavljaju pozorišni dokumentarac o muškosti ovde i danas, razvijen u okviru projekta “Budi muško”tokom 5 meseci rada.

“Macho man” is a theatrical documentary about manhood here nowadays which was developed as part of the project “Be a man” over the course of 5 months. This play was created in co-production of Centre E8 and Bitef Theater. The premiere was held on 30th November 2012 and since then it is a part of the repertoire of Bitef Theater with many performances around Serbia planned. NIN, one of most appreciated weekly magazines, declared “Macho men” one of top three theatre plays of the year.

The main topic of this show is masculinity and the way that it is treated and formed in this society and culture. The play delivers a message about freedom, personal accomplishment and ability to overcome culturally imposed norms that prevent young men from expressing themselves.

The script was written by combining personal stories, experiences and attitudes of both co-producers and performers; dramatization of theses from the book “Manhood” written by Steve Biddulph; quoting theorists of men movement; using fragments from newspapers, internet and television. Moreover, data from the research “Men and masculinity” conducted within “Be a man” project was used in this play, as well as the experience of trainers in the project and the materials constructed during workshops based on the method of using theatre in education and methodological games aimed at encouraging collective authors’ creation.

Jovan Ćirilov, teatrolog i književnik

‘’In the macho society of the Balkans and Serbia ‘’Macho men’ theatre play is of great importance’.The title itself ironically approaches the issue of manhood in its traditional machoist meaning, by selecting actors who are or resemble macho men. It was intelligent and adequate dramaturgical choice of the director. Because of that choice ‘’Macho men’’ play is humorous and leaves no one indifferent. In that way it underlines the topic of dealing with new feelings and analysis of manhood in the right direction. Apart from that the play is at high artistic level, which is very important and often uncommon when socially engaged plays are concerned.’’ Jovan Ćirilov, theatrologist and writer

“(…) Playful and dynamic (choreography and scenic movement Ljiljаnа Tаsić) touching and witty, with skillfully set dramaturgy, the play captures freshness and honesty and the faith that theatre can (still) change the world. Naturally, the large part of the credit goes to irresistible and infinitely charming actors, who uncompromisingly, and in youthfully direct way expressed their intimacy on stage. This play should be watched by the young, their parents, people who work in the field of education. Actually, it should be watched by everyone in this country. The way it is, it is simply necessary.’

Boban Jevtić, NIN, Beograd

“(…) Rаzigrаnа i dinаmičnа (koreogrаfijа i scenski pokret LJiljаnа Tаsić), dirljivа i duhovitа, vešto drаmаturški postаvljenа, predstаvа pleni svežinom i iskrenošću kаo i verom dа pozorište (ipаk) može menjаti svet. Nаrаvno, ogromаn deo zаsluge ide neodoljivim, beskrаjno šаrmаntnim аkterimа koji su beskompromisno, mlаdаlаčki direktno, izneli svoju intimu nа scenu.

(…) Sаv diverzitet (nаbаcаnost temа) i višeslojnost (mogućnost tumаčenjа), predstаvа „Muškаrčine“ podnosi stilskim opredeljenjem inscenаcije. Poput stend аp komičаrа, izvođаči igrаju frontаlno, u jednom trenutku čаk i zаrepuju. Scenogrаfijа-kutijа i nаznаke mizаnscenа u tipično dečjoj rаzuzdаnosti i kreveljenju (kаdа jedаn igrа scenu, drugi mu se pridružuju i „kvаre“ je), super je funkcionisаlo. (…)” Igor Burić, pozorišni kritičar „Dnevnik“, Novi Sad

‘(…) In a theatrical sense ‘Macho men’ opens stylistic and meaningful levels and those were used by the skilled authors and actors in two ways. When speaking of something beyond their experience it is comical, but when speaking of generation gap and childhood it is closer to being startling. The dramaturgy, which could be simplified as biological stages of childhood, adolescence, maturity, was dominated by intelligently contemplated and processed subjects and dilemmas. (…) All the diversity (randomness of subjects) and large number of layers (possibility of translation) is enhanced by the stylistic concept of the scenography. The performers act frontally like stand up comedians. At one point they even start rapping. The box-scenography and hints of mise en scène, being typically childish debauchery and grimacing (when one of them plays the scene, the others join him and ‘spoil’ it), functioned very well. (…)

Igor Burić, theatre critic„Dnevnik“, Novi Sad

“ Tanja Marković, psihološkinja i teoretičarka umetnosti

‘Fantastic show in a theatrical sense and in a sense of what it can mean for the people and education, not only as a support for these boys who were children during the hardest times in our country, but also for the generations of boys who are yet to come. Excellently witty and emotional, the show has excellent rhythm, many well chosen theatrical means and charming performers’

In communicative and funny way play “Victims of Love” deals with problems of sexual and reproductive health. It is especially focused on such problems with Roma and IDPs (internally displaced people). This kind of approach makes it much easier for others to understand traditional values, as well as cultural and social changes that these populations go through.

This play was created during interactive work with amateur actors and actresses - young Roma and young IDPs from the south of Serbia. This was part of project “Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Care for Uprooted People and Romani Women and Youth in Southern Serbia”. “Victims of Love” was performed in Serbia, Bosnia and Hercegovina and Croatia. It was played twice in Yugoslavian Drama Theater in Belgrade, in BITEF Polyphony and in theater festival in Pula where this play got some amazing reviews. In February 2012 the play “Victims of Love” has also been performed at the opening of the Conference on activities for the improvement of the health of Roma.

Project “Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Care for Uprooted People and Romani Women and Youth in Southern Serbia” was implemented by CARE Serbia and their partners Centre E8, Nexus, National parliament and Generator. The project was financially supported by CARE Germany-Luxembourg and European Union.

Intervju sa Jugoslavom Hamzom, glumcem

Jugoslav Hamza ima 22 godine. Rodom je iz Leskovca. Svi ga zovu Jugi. A svojom životnom energijom i pokretačom smatra svoju ćerku, Suzanu.

I u Srbiji, generalno?Nezaposlenost.

Jugoslav Hamza is 22 years old and he was born in Leskovac. Everyone calls him Jugi. He is in love with theater. When he focuses on a goal he will do everything that is in his power to achieve it. One of his goals is to have a Law degree because he wants to help people from his region. Music relaxes him and he likes to listen to good hip hop, reggae and jazz music. His daughter Susanna is his greatest motivation and his greatest source of energy.

How did your cooperation with Center E8 begin?Well, it all started with one audition in Leskovac. Ivan Šečirević and I went to this NGO “National Parlament” we passed the audition and that is how we started working on the project “Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Care for Uprooted People and Romani Women and Youth in Southern Serbia”

Did you have any experience with theater before this project? The reason why I went to this audition is because Ivan told me that it was something about theater. Since I’ve already done some work with theater I decided to go and see what was that audition all about. I’ve worked in Christianity Church with children on some plays, especially on Easter and Christmas. Because of my previous work and because of my passion for theater I’ve decide to go for audition.

What was most valuable experience for you while working with Center E8? The time I spent with people I’ve met there and methods of work. Also, the opportunity to say my own opinion and express my beliefs considering things which matter to young people. I have grown and I have learned some very important lessons. Cooperation with Center E8 has really made my life much better and at the end of the day that is the only thing that counts. Right?

Tell us an anecdote from the project. There were so many! One of the outcomes of our project was the play “Victims of Love” which made it possible for us to travel through Serbia and the whole region. The best thing was when we had a performance in Surdulica and in our dressing room there was a TV. One actress from our group was really into this Turkish soap opera and because of that she forgot to go out on stage. We all stood there and waited for her to come out while she was stuck to TV. Fortunately someone went to the dressing room to tell her that it was her turn and everything ended well.

What are you doing now?I am doing a lot of different things, but I can say I’m doing something I like. I have my own acting group in Leskovac and right now we have a play called “You have a chance”. It is played mostly in Cultural center of Leskovac but we also had a performance in Vranje. I became a theater trainer. By working with Center E8 I have learned many different techniques and methods which are very useful for my current work. I have also learned a lot about reproductive health in a funny and creative way.

Does this mean that you give advice to your friends about reproductive health?Exactly! I teach them everything I know. It’s not easy for young Roma to just go and ask questions about reproductive health. Some are ashamed, some don’t want for others to find out what they have been asking about. But these are some things that they need to know. Mainly because of themselves. That is why I fell so good whenever I can help them.

Now that you have mentioned, what do you think is the main problem of young people in south of Serbia? Or Serbia generally? Unemployment. Young people wish to work but they can’t find a job. I think that they have lost confidence in many people and institutions. They have promised many things but they haven’t accomplished any. Young people want to get active but they don’t know where and they don’t know how.

In your opinion which are the ways for young people to get educated and become more active citizens?First, I think that young people need to become aware of their rights. Organizations like Center E8 can help a lot in this aspect. They can also help them to become more active in society. Personally, I would use things that they like in order to reach them…theater, music, football…And after working with them I would ask them about their problems, what they want to change etc. That could be one way to help them.

And for the end, if you could choose one super power what would it be?Acting is my super power! And theater of ideas.

Every year the entire E8 team gathers in one place for the annual meeting. Our team consists of 50 young people from all over Serbia. Apart from the fact that we like to get together and socialize, that meeting is a chance to discuss issues which are important for young people in Serbia. Moreover, we acquire new skills and find the best way to solve some problems affecting young people together. The meeting was inaugurated by presentation of the new Centre E8 logo. The author of the logo is Predrag Stakić, the designer of the global human rights logo. After presenting the logo to the whole team of Centre E8, it was promoted on our website and in all social networks. Apart from Predrag Stakić, we also hosted Ivan Čosić and Nebojša Radović, who held lectures titled ‘’Presentation about making a presentation’’ and ‘’Using the social networks at work and online reputation’’.Because our logo concept is related to youth superpowers we decided to present powers of Centre E8 members by photography. Perhaps some powers are similar to each other, but the photos are unique. We developed excellent ideas for future work and after the lectures of our guest speakers a couple of members started using Twitter because, as they said themselves, they understood the meaning of unlimited potential of working with youth through social networks.

If something doesn’t appear in the media it’s as if it never happened. No, we have never believed in this. We always believed that media should be our partners and a significant channel for communication with citizens of Serbia. We shall continue cooperation with the media in the future.

Ukupno 301 medijskih članaka/priloga o našem radu napravljeno je u 2012. godini
