Respondus
UVM recommended assessment platform integrated with BlackBoard
Respondus Lockdown Browser
31
• It is free! – UVM procured institutional license
• Should be installed as a stand-alone application
(Supported OS: Windows, Mac, iOS)
• Needs to be downloaded from this link which is configured for UVM
http://www.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=488814272
Respondus Monitor
32
• No new installation needed
Add-on feature to lockdown browser
• 15$/Year – unlimited access to tests on BlackBoard (Payment through PayPal or Credit Card)
• Requires webcam and microphone
Lockdown Browser Interface
33
• As the name says, it is a ‘Browser’ that locks down every application on the computer
• Students can only access UVM BlackBoard

Respondus Monitor – Student Experience
37
• After taking 7 tests on Respondus Monitor in CS020 Fall 2019
Respondus Monitor – Issues
38
• Webcam/Microphone not detected
• Unable to access Media Servers
• Proxy error while taking the test
• Application automatically shuts down
Resolving Respondus Monitor Issues
39
• We are on our own (mostly) – we could create a troubleshooting document.
• If you use only lockdown browser (not monitor), the issues are minimal.
• Respondus has indicated that they are rolling out a beta version of a built in "chat" support feature. The system wide chat support (staffed by Respondus employees), would not be fully available until after December.
Overall Experience with Respondus
40
• Does its job with glitches
• Can get annoying at times for students
• Try with low stakes tests like quiz early in the semester and decide if you like to use it for midterm/finals
