Fill-up is accomplished by pumping through the top drive. Hoses orconventional accessories are NOT required.

Fill-up can be accomplished while casing is run. No shutdown is required.

Circulation is accomplished by slacking down to place the FC-1 seal insidethe casing.

Circulation can be achieved while washing down without accessory rig-up.

The Mud Saver Valve eliminates spilling of costly drilling fluids after fill orcirculation.

Rig time is saved by performing both fill-up and circulation without riggingup accessories.

Safety is improved as rig hands are not near pressure lines or valves whilefilling or circulating.

Operation does not require axial movement to actuate the Mud Saver valve.

This drawing drawing above showsthe tool connected to the top drive.Spacer joints space the tool out sothat the packer cup is just above theelevator. The FC-1 has an armourflex-hose to help guide the tool intothe pipe.

    FC-1 Filli ng Up

This drawing shows the elevatorset on the pipe in the normal posi-tion. Notice that the packer cup isstill above the collar of the pipe. This is the position used for fillingthe pipe. Filling may begin assoon as the elevator is set.

Franks FC-1 and FC-2 offers FlexibilityFranks FC-1 and FC-2 offers Flexibility

Fill-up and Circulating Tool- 4-1/2 to 26 fill-up and circulating capablitites, any weights and thread.- Top drive or hook rigs can be accommodated.

FC-2 Fill-up and Circulating Tool- The FC-1 Tool can be used on rigs NOT equipped with at top drive drilling system

through the use of an Adapter Assembly.

Fill-up and Circulating Tool with Torque Sub Applications- 4-1/2 to 13-5/8 casing fill-up and circulating capabilities with the additional benefit

of connecting the casing directly to the top drive to rotate and reciprocate the

    casing string.

Side Port Entry Sub- For top drive rigs that can not use the kelly hose when running casing. Allows 2

mud supply hose to be conected to the FC-1 tool for casing fill-up and circulating. Also maybe used on Flow-back jobs, where flowing back through the top drivecause a restriction.

Fill-up and Circulating Tool with Push Down Plate- 4-1/2 to 26 casing fill-up and circulating cababilities, with the added benefit of

being able to apply the weight of the top drive / hook directly to the casing string. This aids in pushing the casing pass obstructions and / or dog legs.

Flow Back Tool Application- 4-1/2 to 26 casing reverse flow capablities, can transfer fluid for the casing

annulus back to the mud pits as the casings is lower into the hole. For tie-backs incased hole applications.

Flow Back and Circulating Applications- 4-1/2 to 26 casing reverse flow capablities and circulating conditions for well

control problems on liners, and full strings with sensitive pressure gradients.

Sliding Sleeve Accessory- Unique pressure bypass mandrel eliminates the possibility of pulling the seal

under pressure, increases Mud Saver Valve life and circulation rates.

Fill-up, Circulating, and Cementing Tool Applications- 7 to 20 fill-up and circulating during casing operations and converts to cementing

    operations.

Tie-back Pressure Test Applications- 4-1/2 to 26 casing pressure test on tie-backs, economical on batch jobs with

multiple casing sizes and multiple wells.

Stab-in Cementing Pack Off Tool- 9-5/8 to 26 casing fill-up and circulating on casing running operations for Tag-injobs and then may be used to pressurize the casing annulus for setting external

    casing packer.

    Figu re 1

Franks Fill-up tool dressed for astandard Fill-up tool job. Note thenew equalizer sub (shown in red)which has a flow area of a full7-1/5. Once the stand pipe isopened, this valve automaticallyequalizes any pressure whichmay be trapped under the cup.

    Figu re 2

The flowback valve placed in ashort hose and attached to thebottom of a flow back tool.Because the valve opens only oneway, mud flows back up inside ofthe casing to be retreived throughthe top drive and into the mud pit.In order to trap any fluid which maybe flowing back, the FC-1 isdressed out long enough to stab

    into the casing each time.

    Figu re 3

Once the tool is picked up out ofthe casing, the flowback valveautomatically closes. When thishappens, mud will not leak out ofthe tool or top drive. Because thisis a one-way valve, circulation ispossible only if the tool is dressedwith a sliding sleeve as shownabove. If the sliding sleeve is not inplace and circulation is required,

    the valve must be removed.

    SSYSTEMYSTEM

The FACTSFACTSTM . . .. . .Franks has made cementing operations safer. Franksinnovative FC-1 Fill-Up Tool and unique cementingadapter with remote ball dropping mechanism hasbeen combined with a patented plug system to providethe drilling industry with a safer work environment andless rig up.

    The FACTSFACTSTM eliminates large cumbersome

cementing heads because cementing operations canbe conducted directly through the FC-1 Fill-Up Tool.

    FASTER . . .FASTER . . .

Installation of FACTSFACTSTM prior to casing run allowscementing operations to begin without delay.

SAFER . . .SAFER . . .Installation is completed on the floor. Actuation of plugdropping mechanism occurs remotely.

    Circulation Rates

Circulation Mode - During Circulation, any flow rate needed can be achieved, especially if circulating through tight zones. Typically, flow rates up to 25 bpmcan be achieved for short periods of time. High rates and duration may erodemud saver valve. If circulating greater than 6 hours at 15bpm, it is recomend-ed that the mud saver valve be removed.

Cementing Mode - During cementing, flow rates of 10 bpm for up to 3 hours

can be achieved. Displacement rates and times in excesss of 10 bpm for 3hors can result in a lower observed plug landing pressure.
