UCLEUS

- The nucleus is the control center of cells, it is like our brain because it makes sure any processes that must happen in the cell happen (reproduction, movement, eating, etc.) , the same way our brain tell our body what to do in order for us to survive.

FUNCTI

ON: THE N

UCLEUS

- The nucleus stores most of the genetic information of a cell.

- The cell nucleus also contains the cell’s DNA.

STRUCTU

RE: CELL

NUCLEUS - The main parts of a

cell’s nucleus are the nuclear envelope and the nucleolus, but it also has pores, nucleoplasm, and chromosomes.

ENVEL

OPE- The main function of

the nuclear envelope is to keep the nucleus separated from the rest of the cell

- Another important function is that it allows materials to flow in and out of it’s pores and therefore out of the nucleus

ENVEL

OPE- The nuclear envelope is

made up of a phospholipid bilayer

- The nuclear envelope also has pores which allow the nucleus to communicate with the other organelles within a cell, by allowing certain molecules in and out of the nucleus.

STRUCTU

RE: THE

NUCLEOLU

SThe three main

components of the nucleolus are:

- fibrillar centers (FC)

- dense fibrillar centers (DFC)

- granular components (GC)
