ABOUT US
The Coalition for the Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis-Philippines, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit organization
that works for the control and elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis for 10 years already. Recently, CELF-
Philippines, Inc. has expanded to include two more Neglected Tropical Diseases: Schistosomiasis and Soil
Transmitted Helminthiasis. Soon the coalition will be adapting a new name- CCELF & NTD or Coalition for the
Control and Elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis and Neglected Tropical Diseases.

LYMPHATIC FILARIASIS, SCHISTOSOMIASIS
AND SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTHIASIS
3 parasitic diseases endemic among the poorest of the poor Lymphatic Filariasis is the 2nd leading cause of permanent disability. LF is
a result of larval infection through mosquito bite. Currently there are 31 provinces endemic of LF.
Schistosomiasis is prevalent in 28 provinces. It is acquired through skin penetration by exposure to larval infested freshwater.
Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis happens when a person ingests infected human feces and is found nationwide.

COALITION BUILDING
CELF-Philippines, Inc. believes that strengthening Local Government Units is the key to control and eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases in the country. Without the support and engagement of the province, there will be no full implementation of strategies among stakeholders and partners.
