Think Spring!

Full Circle with HCA Pictured below left is Jordan, 29 years ago, as a preschooler enrolled in HCA’s Building Blocks

Preschool. Today, Jordan lives in an apartment with his wife, has two cars and is employed part-

time at HCA, where it all started, through HCA’s Supported Employment Program. It has not

been the easiest journey for Jordan. From 2005-2013, Jordan resided at Broome Developmental

Center with other individuals diagnosed with varying developmental disabilities. In 2013 is when,

in Jordan’s words, “Cheryl found me”. Cheryl Smith is HCA’s Residential Director who at the

time was finding placement for men and women like Jordan in one of HCA’s many group homes.

By 2016, Jordan had developed independent living skills and no longer needed to reside in a

group home setting. Jordan now works as a 1:1 Aide in the preschool, at HCA’s Afterschool Res-

pite program, and substitutes as a Residential Counselor in HCA’s group homes. He is very ex-

cited to work for HCA. His job coach, Lisa, says “Jordan is a pleasure to work with and is very

easy going!”

Jordan is pictured here with Geoffrey, working as his 1:1 aide.

Our Binghamton University PwC Scholar students spent some time with HCA’s Building Blocks Preschoolers

and staff preparing for Spring. The preschoolers and the students painted rocks to be used in our newly

renovated garden that will be re-designed and maintained with the help of the BU Students. On Friday,

April 20, all of the BU students’ hard work and projects, inside and outside of our preschool, will culminate

with a Project Day Event involving nearly 100 Binghamton University PwC Scholar students!
