Nickerson, 60 yearsThe weather on Feb. 18, 1950, was cold and blustery

with sun shining on a lot of snow, when Dick Nickerson,Clear Lake, and Pauline Wodarcak, Mason City, wereunited in marriage in the First Methodist Church ofMason City. Dr. Lloyd Gustafson officiated with Clemand Laurel O’Rourke, Mason City, as attendants. Theceremony was delayed for 30 minutes because of theweather.

This 60th anniversary will mark an accumulation of

175 years of marriage for them and their four daughtersand their spouses: Nancy and Steve Adair, Austin,Texas, married 21 years; Leslie and Randy Law, ClearLake, married 34 years; Kay and Tim Turek, Clear Lake,married 34 years; and Julie and Bob McPheron, NewLondon, married 26 years.

The couple has 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They began farming south of Clear Lake,on his grandfather’s farm on Tony Row, the year theymarried. The couple resides there today at 13153 IndigoAve.
