Take a look at the fantastic things our pupils have been getting up to!
Squirrels South
Acer South
This week in Squirrels class, Aiden has
been working hard practising his
common exception word spellings every
single day. Wow! He has also set Mrs
Coombes the challenge of following his
recipe for Spaghetti Bolognaise and to
his surprise, it is Mrs Coombes’ favourite
meal! Well done Aiden – you are a super
star!
Charlie has had another good week of
learning. He is making use of concrete
objects to support his maths skills. Well
done Charlie and family!
It has been another really busy week of
home learning in Acer class!
In Science this week, we have been
continuing our topic on light to learn
how to create rainbows. How beautiful is
Toby’s example?!
In English this week, Acer have been
creating characters ready for our stories
next week. Meet Barney the Brilliant
Basset! I can’t wait to read what he gets
up to next week. It has also been really
great to see the inventive ways that you
are all learning your spellings! Alfie has
making word searches while Greg is
making the words using Scrabble tiles!
Willow Class
Acer Class
Ahoy there shipmates- this week
Willow class have been learning all
about pirates. They have been busy
making pirates, pirate flag,
telescopes and pirate ships. They
have also produced some fantastic
descriptive writing about what they
can see through their telescopes. As
well as this, some of the class had a
chat on Microsoft teams and told us
about the meals they had been
cooking and the games they had
been playing. It was lovely to see
them and Mrs Murray. There has
been VE Day colouring, bike rides,
bird watching, learning about the
moon, deck building and playing
lego nicely with siblings. One of the
class even read Mrs Pagram a story
over the phone! An excellent week
Willow class- keep it up!
This week, Acer class have been busy thinking
about themselves – their likes and our dislikes!
They have thought about their favourite
foods, favourite animals, and their favourite
places to visit. They have written poems,
created recipes and done some baking. They
have made thaumatropes, created new
minecraft games and thought about ways to
help relieve stress and anxiety – they loved
doing Upside downs!! They particularly
enjoyed making family saltdough handprints
for 2020 and have been busy finding out
about V.E. Day ready for Friday 8th May (the
75th Anniversary). They have made bunting to
decorate their gardens, they have baked
cakes and other traditional British recipes and
thought about how they could celebrate the
day together as a family. Alfie has been
keeping busy by building himself a new
computer from scratch! We also have had our
2nd video call so we could see each other -
Miss Williams is so proud!

nature, sports and games amongst other
things.
All of the children have spoken to Mr

polite, friendly and welcoming. Children
have shared photos of a huge range of work
and also planned for VE day. Well done
Maple class you are wonderful and have
worked very hard this week
Mr Coomber would like to say a huge well

learning about properties of shape.
Well done to Ben, Jacob, Jake,

shapes. Leo has also been doing some Humanities work and has been comparing the
Ancient and Modern day Olympics games!

Logan has done some lovely descriptive writing about his environment and has also shown a
great understanding of his shape work in Maths, this includes parallel and perpendicular lines
which is very tricky!
Evan has been doing lots of learning as well this week! He has produced some amazing
writing work based on alliteration and similes! Evan has worked hard to complete some
brilliant Maths shape work, and Evan has also been observing his sunflowers for growth in
Science. I am also very impressed that Evan used scientific language in his Science
predictions by starting which plant he thinks will germinate!
Oak Class
In Oak class pupils have been completing maths challenges, reviewing films, recommending
music, cooking Sunday roast to name a few.
Here is Kai’s film review!
Bloodshot
At first it was a bit dull but when the fighting started it got alot better after he and his wife are murdered, marine Ray
Garrison is brought back to life by a team of scientists. Enhanced with nanotechnology, he becomes a superhuman
biotech killing machine Bloodshot. As Ray first trains with fellow super-soldiers, he cannot recall anything from his past
life. But when his memories flood back and he remembers the man that killed both him and his wife, he breaks out of
the facility to get payback, only to discover that there's more to the conspiracy than he thought.
The team of scientists were kinda on his side and not on his side because they were trying to program his
nanotechnology in his blood stream to kill the guy who he thought killed him but the guy who killed Ray Garrison in his
past life was already dead, leading to a dramatic entrance in a science lab to kill the guy who he thought killed him and
all the guards that were protecting him after this event in the film Ray Garrison goes to london to see his wife but Rays
was a bit shocked at what happened in london. His wife was alive but had a different family now. Ray was confused. Ray
was killed by the guy who made him but Wilfred Wagins reserected back to life and killed the guy who made him with a
grenade. After that scene everything was calm on a cliff facing the sunset living in a trailer.
In genral the movie was thrilling ,hands sweating when ray was fighting, but at the end it was calm.
A special mention has to be given to Jamie, who has been showing of his range of talents as well as his
kindness and generosity. Jamie has been working really well and completing lots of his school work, which has
been great to see. He has also been very busy helping out at home and the community.
Palm and Juniper Class
It’s been another wonderful week in Palm and Juniper class.
All of the students and staff have been working hard and keeping busy!
David has been enjoying the myths and legends topic and has designed his very
own mythical setting. Well done David!
Jake has been engaging positively with his Padlet and has been busy finding the
mean, median and mode heights of his family. He will have to find the mean and
median heights of the High Need teams once we’re back at school!
Connor has been enjoying provision at school. He finally made it all the way around
on the BMX track on his bike without. He was very pleased with himself! He showed
great team work and super listening.
Sam Ritchie wowed all of the onsite team with his amazing algebra skills and won his
reward of watermelon for all his hard work at home. Josh has been in school too and
put Miss Gosling through her paces with a 2 mile run around school.
Once again, we are very proud of the High Needs team. A big thank you to
everyone involved!
Joshua created a fantastic Superhero Peg person – Mr Peggy Pants to the rescue!
He also made a beautiful background for Mr Peggy Pants to fly against.
Tyler joined in a video call with Miss Gosling, Miss Mayo-Ward and Miss Groffman.
They talked about lots of interesting things and even put some secret plans in place!
Tyler also created a super funny action movie involving a Superhero called Super
Tyler and baddie called General Kid.

sample some of the delights made by KS4 when we are back at school – who knew
we had such talented chefs!?
English
Ralph has been practicing answering GCSE English Language story writing questions
this week and his use of language is excellent.
Tobi has also been writing a story with a practice Entry Level question. We love the
tension he builds up with the twist at the end!
Corey has produced this amazing newspaper report about the events in ‘The
Curious Incident
Therapy Blog - How visuals helps us?
Think about when you have ‘too much’ to do, what helps you? Usually we write lists.
Getting it all down visually in front of us means:
we can put it in order of most
important/easiest to achieve
make a plan of what to do in what order
we can cross off things we’ve done (feeling
a sense of achievement)
remind ourselves what we still need to do
Children are no different, visuals help them too!
Instead of a list, they might need pictures as well as words.
Visuals help them:
organise themselves for the activity and
get what materials they need
know how many activities they are
expected to do in a given task
be prepared for what’s coming next in an
activity
keep focused on the activity at hand
recognise when they’re finished
remind them of what reward they’ll get when they’ve finished
The types of visuals children use can be very different. To see some examples of
visuals, have a look at our wellbeing Padlet, there is a tab called ‘visuals’ –
