A TYPICAL CLASSThink dance school. Loosen up and get ready to jam!

1. Your instructor will fi rst take you through a warm up with simple moves designed to work one body part at a time—from your shoulders to your chest to your hips.

2. You’ll then move onto the rehearsal phase, where you will try some uncomplicated but ultra-fun dance combinations that follow the latest music and hottest dance trends. Each rehearsal phase is followed by a complete bust-out performance where you go crazy with the moves you’ve just learned. Following these you’ll get to take a breather in the recovery phases.

3. The fi nal groove down brings you to the end of the class, with plenty of stretching for your sore muscles.

ApplesHarvested late summer through fall, apples come in a variety of colors and fl avors. They are delicious raw, baked in pies, roasted, and sautéed.What to Look For:To pick the perfect apple, look for apples that are fi rm, brightly colored, and free of bruises. The skin should be clean and shiny; a dull fi nish indicates the fruit may be past its prime.

Brussels SproutsWith its harvesting season peaking from September to February, this mini-sized vegetable is cousin to the cabbage. When roasted or sautéed, brussel sprouts can be served as a stand-alone dish. They can also be added to salads, pastas, and sauces for extra fl avor.What to Look For:Look for fi rm, small compact heads that are bright green and free of blemishes. Avoid those that feel puffy or light for their size.

CranberriesAvailable October through December, this bittersweet, bite-sized fruit is not just a Thanksgiving staple. Cranberries can be added to salads, sides, and main dishes to add sweetness. They can also be used to make great healthy desserts.What to Look For:Look for bright-colored, fi rm cranberries at the local farmer’s market or produce department. Avoid selecting bags that have shriveled or brown cranberries at the bottom.

Butternut SquashWith its sweet fl avor, butternut squash has become a fall favorite. There are so many delicious ways to use this versatile hard-shell squash, from soups and salads to lasagna and pizza. Roasting butternut squash renders it sweet and tender. It can also be sautéed or boiled and mashed.

What to Look For:Pick a squash that is rock solid and heavy for its size. Its skin should be matte; a shiny fi nish is a sign that the squash wasn’t ripe when it was picked.

GrapesGrapes ripen towards the end of summer with the harvest continuing into fall. In addition to being a healthy snack, grapes can be used to jazz up salads, main dishes, and desserts.What to Look For:Look for grapes that are plump, unblemished, and fi rmly attached to a fl exible stem. Ripe white and green grapes should have a yellowish cast; red and purple ones should have no green.

Sweet PotatoesA Thanksgiving favorite, sweet potatoes can be used to make great holiday side dishes and desserts. These sweet spuds are also delicious when baked, roasted with spices, or blended into smoothies.What to Look For:Look for small to medium sweet potatoes. (Large ones can be tough.) Their skins should be smooth and evenly colored with no areas of softening, sprouting, or wrinkling—which are all signs of aging.

For decades sleds have been used in conditioning, strength and metabolic training with sports teams. The workout sled has always been popular among sports teams because of its ability to improve acceleration, or fi rst step quickness, which is a key component in all athletic events. More recently, however, fi tness experts have discovered the benefi ts of incorporating the sled into everyday workout regimes. As a result, The Prowler sled has become widely adopted by workout facilities, including Celebration Fitness Centre & Day Spa.

While sled training is a departure from traditional forms of training it provides a new challenge. This high intensity workout is an excellent source of lower body and core strength development. It also aids in fat burning and increases endurance. And because it helps to increase muscle mass and decrease fat, it is an effective tool for changing your body composition.

What if you do only aerobics or only weight training?Implementing only one of these types of training produces results—but the benefi ts are limited. However, if you incorporate both cardiovascular (aerobics) and strength training into your workout you will optimize your results.

Cardiovascular training by itself doesn’t increase your metabolism. However, when you couple it with strength training, you not only burn fat during your workout, but you also increase your post-workout metabolism. This is a huge benefi t compared to what cardiovascular training does alone: when you stop exercising you also stop burning calories. Using The Prowler sled to strength train is a great way to supplement your cardiovascular training.

Before You StartBefore you start sled training, be sure to consult one of our certifi ed personal trainers. Due to the intensity of The Prowler workout, you should start at a slower speed, gradually increasing your pace. It is also recommended to perform no more than two sled workouts per week.

“Celebration Fitness Centre & Day Spa has been a part of my life since I moved to Celebration 15 years ago at the age of three. I was in the nursery that used to be here, and then I moved to child care at age fi ve. Now, as a college freshman, I teach BODYFLOW™ as a volunteer at The Fitness Centre. Throughout the years I have had a multitude of reasons for joining the Fitness Centre. A majority of my life was spent struggling with my weight. I was always sick and wasn’t happy with the way I was living my life. About four years ago, my dad was diagnosed with diabetes. I decided that I needed to change my lifestyle to be healthier in order to encourage him to do the same. I lost about 50 pounds as a result. However, I became a more dedicated member because I found Les Mills group fi tness classes. I can take as many classes as I want! I started out with BODYATTACK™

and then months later I took up BODYFLOW™ and BODYSTEP™. Just recently, I started taking BODYPUMP™. When I am not taking classes, I love to run on the treadmills because I can play Sudoku while working out. I am extremely biased to the group fi tness classes, however. I get bored really easily, but when I go to a group fi tness class I know that I will be working out and entertained for an hour. The variety of work outs that are taught in the group fi tness classes have also taught me more about how to get a well-rounded work out. If I miss a class then I have a handful of my favorite ab workouts that I’ve learned in class. As I’m looking for gyms in Boston, where I will be attending Boston University, I realized that it is hard to come by a gym that offers the extensive variety of group fi tness classes as the Fitness Centre does. After taking Les Mills classes for a little over a year, I knew that I needed to fi nd new ways to challenge myself. After contemplating the idea of becoming a Les Mills instructor, my BODYFLOW™ instructor at the time came up to me after class one day and encouraged me to go to a training. So I took that as a sign to take the next step and fi nally get certifi ed. All of my group fi tness instructors have impacted me in some way, especially Jeremy, who was my fi rst instructor. And as I have started to teach BODYFLOW™ classes, the entire BODYFLOW™ team

has been so incredibly welcoming and supportive to me. I couldn’t have had a better group of mentors to guide me in the beginning of my journey. As a group fi tness instructor, I want my class members to not see fi tness as a competition, but see it as an individual journey of continuously challenging yourself to do your best. Exercise isn’t about winning or losing—it’s about achieving personal goals. I think that if you stop thinking of what everybody else is doing and focus on your own strengths and weaknesses then it’s easier to be prouder of yourself as you begin to recognize your accomplishments. Keeping an active and healthy lifestyle not only add years to your life time, but it also makes those years better lived. I would say to anyone: ‘Find a way that makes you happy to work out. Once you fi nd the one [workout] that you enjoy, working to be healthier isn’t a chore. Make a schedule that makes exercise a part of your routine and stay focused on whatever your personal goal is.’”

Paradise MassageFeel the stresses of the day melting away during this full-body massage. Your therapist will customize your massage, making sure to give special attention to the areas you feel need it most. (50 minutes)

Purifying FacialUnwind and escape while both your mind and skin are being pampered and purifi ed. The impurities from the day will be cleansed away followed by a balancing toner. Then the build-up will be exfoliated away to open up the pores, making for easier cleaning. Treatment will continue using a customized masque for your skin type to increase the health of the skin and fi nish the service with the best-suited moisturizer to hydrate and balance the skin. Of course, the facial will conclude with the appropriate SPF sun defense to protect the skin. (50 minutes)

Deep Cleansing Back TreatmentYou are in for a treat during this thorough cleansing of the back. Throughout this treatment we use high-quality skin care products along with the wonderful Clarisonic Brush with its special body brush attachment. This allows for a deeper cleaning and feels great for this hard to reach area of your body. (50 minutes)

Paraiso Manicure and PedicureYour Paraiso Manicure and Pedicure will consist of a 25- minute service of each and includes expert trimming and shaping of nails and cuticle attention along with foot fi ling in the pedicure, followed by a relaxing foot massage, and customized with a color of your choice (no French option). You can also choose to do a full 50-minute pedicure (foregoing the manicure), which includes exfoliation and heated booties for your feel as they bathe in a hydrating or cooling masque.

Many people suffer from chronic neck pain. Whether the result of whiplash, poor posture, repetitive movement or simply stress, the pain and discomfort can be unbearable. There is a solution, however. According to recent studies, acupuncture therapy can provide you with the relief you need.

Acupuncture is one of the most cost-effective and benefi cial treatments when experiencing neck pain, which is the third highest reason Americans seek this form of therapy. And in many cases, acupuncture has worked for patients whose conditions could not be solved using conventional approaches, such as prescription or over-the-counter medication. For these reasons, many people are turning to this Chinese-based therapy.

Studies show acupuncture to be effective in relieving certain types of neck pain, particularly those caused by whiplash. Some studies also suggest that acupuncture can treat degenerative neck disorders such as ankylosing spondylosis and cervical spondylosis.

How it WorksFine, sterilized needles are inserted locally and distally to reduce infl ammation, improve blood fl ow and reduce pain. Needles are stimulated at 15 minutes and retained for a totally of 30 minutes. Chinese cupping and oriental massage may be applied to tight and sore muscles to improve blood fl ow and break up adhesions.

Acupressure and herbal medicine are sometimes used in conjunction with acupuncture for neck pain. Applying acupressure to the neck muscles can reduce spasms and lessen pain, leading to a relaxed state and a heightened sense of well-being. Depending on the patient’s condition, certain herbal products can be used to improve circulation and blood fl ow and ease muscle contraction reducing blood pressure, for example, and increasing the circulation of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals. For best results, clinical trials suggest at least two sessions a week for 1-3 months for best results.
