Rumor has it there is an abundance of
talent within the walls of Bronson Place,
and November is the month to share that
talent. We’ll be having our second annual talent show on
Wednesday, November 18 in the Auditorium. Residents and
associates are invited to help to provide a fun evening of
music, comedy, and whimsy for an appreciative audience. If
you have talent to share, please see Nancy in the Community
Life Office. Snag this chance to shine on our stage!
Watermark UniversityThe holiday season is not one best suited for those with busy
schedules, let alone having time to cook up something healthy. As if
life is not busy enough, taking part in the holiday festivities can be
extremely stressful. If you are someone who constantly finds
themselves racing and chasing, then this is the class for you. Fast
and Fresh Cuisine is instructed by Jeanette Walker, Director of
Nursing, and Kristi Uribe, Social Service Coordinator, November
24th , and December 22nd at 10:45am. In this class we'll enjoy

The Springs
Celebratingthe NativeAmericanNovember is Native
American Heritage Month,
and it brings forth an
opportunity to celebrate rich
and diverse cultures,
traditions, and histories of
Native American people. At
The Fountains, we will
celebrate Native American Heritage through our monthly dining
theme, classes, events, and other activities intended to enrich our
understanding of this important culture. Join us for our monthly
theme meal, attend one of our Watermark University classes
related to this theme, such as Native Americans of Michigan in the
Inn, or A Sampling of Contemporary Native American Voices in the
Town Center. Participate in a Native American craft activity or
enjoy a sampling of a Native American food at a social event. Join
us in as we celebrate the Native American throughout November.
Path to Well-BeingDiabetes is one of the leading causes of
disability and death in the United States.
It can cause blindness, nerve damage,
kidney disease, and other health
problems if it’s not controlled.
The good news? People who are at high
risk for type 2 diabetes can lower their
risk by more than half if they make
healthy changes.
Here are just a few ideas:
• Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
• Get regular checkups to have your
blood pressure and cholesterol checked,
and ask the doctor about diabetes risk.
• Attend Health & Wellness Director, Jan
Kehl’s monthly Health Talk on November
17 at 3:15, and Dining Director, Andy
Mitchell’s Food For Thought class to learn
more about how you can make healthy
changes in your diet and exercise
routine.
ThrivingIn honor of fire prevention month, residents at the Springs had the
opportunity to tour the Plainwell Department of Public Safety. Upon
arrival, we were met by the fire chief, himself, who set us up with an in
depth look into a day in the life of a Plainwell Fireman. Though the
chief was sure to let us know that all members were cross-trained to handle
both police work as well as fight fires. We received an up close look at each
fire truck, finding out what each truck is used for, how much water is
pumped through each hose, and even tried on the uniforms to get the full
effect! The morning of our trip, the residents had whipped up a batch
of homemade chocolate chip cookies for all of the staff, to thank them for
having us. After a busy afternoon at the station, we concluded our trip with
a stop to Plainwell Ice Cream!
