The month of October marks a special time in
the life of our associations ... the Associational
Annual Meetings! This year we have again
invited our ministry partners to participate in a
Ministry Fair to showcase many of the ministries
sponsored, supported, or celebrated by our local
associations.
These faithful servants of the Lord have agreed
to set up displays to express their gratitude to you personally and to
tell you about their ministries. You will be able to observe first-hand
the work of our local churches, associational ministries, our Louisi-
ana Baptist Convention, and others. Please help us spread the word
to your church, load up a busload of folks (all ages included) and
travel to the celebration. Let’s see how God uses this event to ex-
pand the missions and ministry opportunities among our churches.
The Ministry Fair will be followed by a time of business to elect
new officers, vote on the proposed annual budgets, and other miscel-
laneous business. All are encouraged to attend the business session; however, each church should elect messengers to vote in this portion
of our meetings.
The Annual Meetings will conclude with a wonderful time of
worship and fellowship. Rick Brewer, the new president of Louisi-
ana College, Pineville, will be our preacher for the Northeast
meeting and Casey Johnson, pastor of Bonita Road, Bastrop will
preach at the Morehouse meeting. Times and locations for the
Annual Meetings are listed on the front page of this newsletter.
Please plan to join us and celebrate all that God is doing in Northeast
and Morehouse Baptist Associations!
Just a reminder, October is also traditionally designated by
Southern Baptist churches to honor pastors and staff. These servant-
leaders are called by God and your church to lead in the fulfillment
of the Great Commission. It is only appropriate to set aside a Pastor/
Staff Appreciation Day or plan a series of events for the entire
month! At the very least, each church should plan a special time to
celebrate and honor the families and ministries of pastors and staff
members. How can you honor your pastor and church staff? Be
creative . . .
• Write personal notes of encouragement and enclose a gift card to a favorite restaurant
• Present a check from the church along with words of praise
• Provide a mini-vacation (maybe an expense-paid weekend trip out of town for each couple with meals, lodging, and entertainment included)
Every person functions best in an environment of love, support, and
prayer. Congregations that reinforce confidence in pastoral leader-
ship will find the atmosphere of the church marked by renewed
vision, a positive outlook, and a promising future.
From the Associational Missionary, Jerry W. Price
A special Thank You is extended to
all the pastors and ministers of
Northeast and Morehouse Baptist
associations. You are loved and
greatly appreciated for everything
you do to serve others!
