Early Childhood Professionals: The Heroes of Our Time

Richard Cohen, M.A.This powerful, fun, thought-provoking keynote address includes music, opportunities for reflection, interactive discussions with the audience about the stresses and triumphs of the early childhood teacher/caregiver, singing, poetry and (believe it or not) dancing in the aisles! Audiences come away cheering, energized and filled with honor for the unique contribution they are to society.

Zen and the Art of Early Childhood Education

Richard Cohen, M.A.Many of us think of “early childhood” as more than a stage of development or a career choice. Join Richard as he shares his story and elicits the stories of his audience mem-bers. Laugh, cry and cheer as we reflect together on why we chose play, why we choose anti-bias work and why we choose to give young children meaningful learning experi-ences. What does it mean to place ourselves in positions of service? How do we balance our humanity and professionalism in an ever-changing world? How are we community builders? Get ready for a keynote that will provoke your thinking, engage your emo-tions and nourish your spirit! Richard Cohen, M.A. has proudly been an early childhood professional for thirty years. For the last twenty years, Richard has traveled the world as a motivational speaker/instructor, facilitating fun, innovative, thought-provoking, interac-tive adult learning experiences for communities of early childhood teachers, administra-tors, caregivers and parents. Currently Richard is a full-time professor of Early Care and Learning at St. Louis Community College in Ferguson, Missouri. In the positions he de-scribes as “the best jobs of my life,” Richard has been an infant teacher, a toddler teacher, a preschool teacher, a kindergarten teacher and a center director! Richard received his Masters Degree in Human Development from the world-renowned early childhood insti-tution of higher education, Pacific Oaks College. He is an active member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the International Play Association (IPA).
