• Gratitude

Recognition should:
• Affirm what was done
• Share learning & commitment of community growth
• Assist youth in maturing and developing

• Recognition is a basic human need with security, new experiences and responses.
• Recognition should be a part of all 4-H learning experiences.
• Appropriate recognition takes many forms.
• Respect for individual differences is essential.
• Recognition must be structured to build positive self-esteem.

• Achievement: - Excellence, personal best, takes risks, restless and
innovative, wants concrete feedback
• Affiliation:- Concerned with being liked /accepted, needs warm & friendly relationships, not a loner
• Power: - Wants reputation, position, give advice, wants own
ideas predominant, needs to influence others, outspoken, verbally fluent
Awards
• Achievement -Tangible awards such as plaques, letters of
recommendations outlining their unique accomplishments; relish opportunities that unique their ideas.
• Affiliation - Recognition that is people centered and creative, such
as unexpected thank-you notes and social events
• Power - Recognition such as impressive job titles or being
asked to be a featured seminar presenter; enjoy serving in public relations roles
