Absences: General Info.
• Every student must bring a written excuse signed by his/her legal guardian within 3 days following an absence. THIS INCLUDES CHECK OUTS! Failure to present this documentation will result in the absence being marked unexcused.

Three Different Types of Absences
• Excused absence- when the school system receives a documented doctor’s/legal excuse.
• Undocumented excused absence- An absence in which the parent/legal guardian sends a signed note explaining the absence. A student may only have
8 undocumented excused absences per semester.

Unexcused Absence• when a written note is not received within
3 days following the absence• when the nature of the absence is not for
legitimate reasons defined by law• if absence occurred for other than
personal sickness, family sickness, or death in the family.
• when a parent note is presented for more than 8 absences
– Exceptional circumstances must be addressed by the principal/designee in a conference.

Tardiness• Teachers will require a pass from
the office to admit students to class after 7:30 a.m.
• In case of a tardy, parents should accompany students inside and sign them in. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT COME IN ALONE!

Make Up Work• Students with excused absences
may make up work.• Teachers are not required to
reteach lessons, but students will be given a reasonable opportunity to learn material missed.

Bus/Car Transportation Procedures
• If the primary form of transportation changes, a note must be sent to the teacher with the following information:– Name– Bus number the child will be riding– Name of student with whom he/she
