Changed Data Capture

Simple CDC:

Tracks changes in individual data stores (table) in a model.

Steps in creating simple CDC:

Step 1: Create a new interface by following the steps for creating an interface.

Step 2: Open the model created for the interface. In the Journalizing tab, Select Journalizing mode as simple and select the corresponding JKM.

Step 3: Right click the data store and click Changed Data Capture -> Add to CDC. It will ask for confirmation to add the table to CDC. Press Yes. Once the table is added to CDC, an orange clock symbol will appear at the top left corner of the datastore icon.

Step 4: To start the journal, Right click on the data store and click Changed Data Capture -> Start Journal. It will prompt for the start of execution. Press OK. A session gets started. When the execution is successful, the orange clock changes to green clock in the data store icon.

Step 5: Now make some inserts or deletes in the source data store and the journal data can be viewed by right clicking the data store and selecting Changed Data Capture -> Journal Data.

Consistent CDC:Tracks changes in a group of data stores in a model. Steps in creating Consistent CDC:

Step 1: Follow the same steps of creating an interface. In the journalizing tab of the model, select mode as consistent set and select the corresponding JKM.

Step 2: Right click on the model and select Changed Data Capture -> Add to CDC. Press yes in the subsequent prompt.

Step 3: Right click on the model and select Changed Data Capture -> Subscriber -> Subscribe. Select the corresponding subscriber and press OK.

Step 4: To start journal, Right click on the model and select Changed Data Capture -> Start Journal. The execution starts and when it is completed successfully, the green clock symbol appears at the top left corner of each datastore icon in the model.

Step 5: If the data in any of the datastore is modified, the journal data can be viewed by right clicking the datastore and selecting Changed Data Capture -> Journal Data.
