Officers’ Offerings Princess

Welcome back from summer. I hope you all were able to get cool at least some of the time. We are getting ready for WAOUM in San Diego the 17th of September. It should be a fun weekend, as usual. The units are practicing hard on their routines and are looking pretty good.

We are also looking forward to our Grand High Priestess, Bea Hillman, being with us October 11. Be sure to get your dinner reservations in for that event. There will be instructions in the Cactus Chatter. We are looking forward to a wonderful turnout and to get to know our Grand High Priestess. It will also be the first Ceremonial for High Priestess, Lady Gina Baird.

See you soon. Dragonfly Luck, Lab Licks, and Lighthouse Love,

our Units and Clubs. A luncheon will follow. Families may come to watch the performances and have lunch with you. Please let the Recorder, Linda Curry, know. Our Potentate, his Lady and the Divan will be joining us for lunch.

Also, Ill Sir Gerry Massey is having a Dinner Theater for Lady Bea on Saturday night. I know it will be a long day, but please try to attend. We are very fortunate that our Court and our Shrine Center complement each other so well. I will have more information at our court meeting.

Please remember the membership contest. When you bring a long lost member for 3 consecutive court meetings, you can enter your name for a $50.00 gift certificate. The drawing will be at the March Court meeting.

Oh, I owe all of you an apology. In the last Cactus Chatter I asked what another name for Memorial Day was and that I would reveal it at the court meeting. My brain was overloaded and I forgot to give you the answer. It's Decoration Day because this is the day for decorating military graves with flags. I believe it started after the Civil War.

I am looking forward to seeing and working with all of you in this fun filled year! Swan Love, Angel Hugs and Schnauzer Kisses,

Associate Princess Wow, the summer has flown by! I hope everyone has had a great summer with family and friends. I have been very busy this summer and I was not able to find a good time to have our “no sewing” party, but I’m hoping to get one scheduled sometime in the next few months. I did get a few donations to-

wards the blankets and we are now armed with some donation letters that we can use at some of the local fabric stores. If you would like to help with this effort, please contact me at 623-873-7988. I will also have a signup sheet at the meetings.

For the September meeting I’m looking for Special Project donations, toys, or donations toward the blankets. As a reminder, my Special Project this year is funding 2 entertainment budgets at the Salt Lake City Hospital.

Come by my station at the meeting to learn more about the project. Thanks again for your support!! Yorkie Hugs and Dark Chocolate Kisses,

Clowns Greetings, I hope everyone has a wonderful

“cool” summer! The Clown Unit has had a lovely summer. We had our “Clowning Around” get together at Trish Whalen’s club house this July. The unit also had a GREAT time at the Prescott Valley Parade and picnic afterwards. At our last unit meeting in May, we presented our Clown of the year Trish Whalen her award and present. Well deserved Trish!! We also had a visitor Lady Suzane Kimball who we are looking forward to joining our unit. Please feel free to attend our Unit meeting the 2nd Thursday of every month, September 11th at 7pm, please join us at the Red Fez Room for dinner at 5:30. Sphinx Patrol Our long, hot, wet, summer is just about over and

we’re now thinking about another busy season of working for the kids. Our first regular Patrol meeting is on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. We’ll meet for dinner around 5 – 5:30 and then have marching prac-tice at 6:15 prior to our 7 pm meeting. We’d love to have our new members come have dinner with us and attend our meeting, too!

I hope that all of our WAOUM attendees will be able to attend this first meeting so can all practice together. Our practices during the summer were lots of fun – now we just have to perfect it so we look RE-ALLY good while marching in San Diego. Just a re-minder that marching attire for our San Diego perfor-
