  • Feedback from Farmers 1200 Feedback received through ATIC-CCSHAU Hisar,

    Telephone/Personal contact during 2013-14.

    3000 farmers appreciated the weather forecast SMS service during the Kisaan Melas on March & September 2013 at CCS HAU Hisar

    More than 50 farmers contacted daily for registration of weather based agro-advisory SMS services through phone/personal contact.

    Weather forecast through Mobile/SMS on real time is

    very useful in day to day field work.

    One separate column for weather forecast and agro advisory should reserve in every newspaper by GoI.

    AAS has an active role in yield enhancement

    Users complemented for improved accuracy of weather forecast

    Farmers showed overwhelming response for weather based AAS

    Many farmers have reported AAS is very much beneficial personnaly

    No one has reported the losses due to AAS

    Rainfall/thunderstorm occurred on 13th

    and 14th March due to WD as predicted

    Farmers are advised to withhold the

    irrigation in wheat and harvest of

    mustard crop

    Farmer saved the irrigation of Rs

    1500/acre as well as lodging of crop

    Rainfall occurred on 14th to 16th June as

    predicted

    Farmers are advised to conserve the

    moisture for sowing of bajra and gvar

    crop

    Farmers benefited the rain for sowing of

    rainfed crops.

    Rainfall occurred on 7th to 11th July as

    predicted

    Farmers are advised to withhold the

    sowing of Bajra and Guar crop

    Farmers saved seed and machinery

    charges of Rs 2500/acre.

    Rainfall occurred from 15th to 19th August

    as predicted

    Not spray of pesticides/insecticides on

    cotton crops.

    Farmers withheld the spraying and saved

    the pesticides and saved Rs 1500/acre.

    Examples

    Weather forecast Agro-Advisory

    High Tmax

    Keep animals in sheds during noon hours and

    provide plenty of cool water mixed with

    minerals for drinking.

    Use fans, coolers to decrease the heat stress in

    poultry farms or raise curtain in south-west

    direction and make them wet during noon

    hours. Provide clean drinking water. Avoid

    feeding during extreme day time.

    Low rainfall Send big fishes to market and shift small

    fishes in one pond from other ponds

    Submitted the UC/SE in proper format and Grants have

    been received.

    APRs of AMFUs have already been submitted to HQ,

    New Delhi and Agrimet Division, IMD, Pune .

    Provision for Mo for recording of meteorological data for Hisar & Kaul at the

    earliest
