2014 – Present: Contracting for Cavendish Nuclear

CE&I Project, Value – 20m

Sellafield -Working on replacing all internal major switchgear and level 2-3 electrical distribution equipment on buildings for Sellafield. Producing Amtech electrical power calculations for all of the changer over steps necessary to keep the buildings operational while the change over takes place. Produce building services designs for the new switch rooms, including all electrical calculations, power, lighting, containment, to complement the electrical design packages.

2011 – 2014 MOTT MACDONALD GROUP

Sellafield – Fire alarm system & fire dampers design, acting as the senior electrical engineer writing the scope of work for the project, reporting directly to the responsible engineer for the project. Responsibilities include coordinating / leading design team meetings and producing estimates and programme to structure the work for the available resources. Analysing the work completed and percentage of project remaining at project meetings. Packaging up various smaller work sections, enabling others to engage on the design actions while I manage the various packages.

HIP Project Sellafield – Concept & preliminary design stages of a new process to enable Sellafield to make waste products redundant. Production of the block cable diagrams, SLD’s, Loop schematics, initial load assessment for the building services and the individual electronic equipment for the process. Completed the initial outline of the Basis of Design. Produced dower distribution panel schematics, termination diagrams, and wiring diagrams along with panel GA and parts lists. Attending design team meetings, single / multidiscipline design reviews and site meetings including conformation of proposed design intent with site walk rounds.

Sellafield – Concept and Detailed Design of complete building fire detection and alarm system layouts, block cable diagrams, single line drawings, load schedules, cable schedules and cable management layouts. Input into the design quality

plans and layout drawings. Site surveying / assessment of the existing lighting and ceiling grid arrangements. Ongoing progress meetings internally and externally. Producing technical specifications data sheets and detailed calculation documents.

Sellafield - Fire damper concept design including production of system layouts, block cable diagrams, and concept level cable calculations. Site surveying of the existing services and potential locations to site new equipment.

2009 – 2011 Environmental Services Design Electrical Design Project Engineer

New university student accommodation facility in York consists of 12 buildings of varying sizes and services throughout 11 blocks across the site, with a total of 660 units. My responsibilities included.All cable calculations inputted into Amtech. Lighting design and calculations completed in Relux. Internal design team meetings to coordinate the mechanical and electrical services were attended and associated drawings updated where necessary. Detailed riser and plant room layouts to coordinate installation. Coordination of the architect’s drawings with the M&E services to ensure no clashes with the electrical design.

Client: The Manchester College and Together Trust

New build for the Together Trust next to the already established Manchester college site on Ashton old Road in Manchester. My responsibilities included initial design meetings to discuss the client’s needs. Producing detailed room data sheets and concept design. Complete electrical design, including all services e.g. fire, security, CCTV, power, Data, Lighting, emergency lighting, access controls, lightning protection, panic alarms, public address system. Coordination of the builders works drawings for the mechanical and electrical

requirements. Coordination of the external services, to produce the external service drawings detailing all incoming services, mechanical and electrical. Attendance at fortnightly client meetings to discuss the program and any design issues that may have arisen while work commences on site, also attending weekly design team meetings.

Two HM Prisons – This is a redevelopment of two existing sites which involves the refurbishment of certain areas and the alteration of other areas to increase the participant capacity, and updated prison requirements.

Moray Schools Keith and Elgin Contract Value £35mM&E Value £10mClient Moray Council / Stewart

The development involved the new build of an Academy in Elgin to replace the existing school and a new build Primary school in Keith, again to replace the existing school. The Academy is a three storey building which will provide a range of teaching areas including general teaching, design and technology, science, music, catering, SEN, sports halls and fitness areas. The Primary school is a single storey school which includes general teaching and hall facilities. Provided M&E design information for Stewart Milne to get the project to financial close andwill complete the detailed design as part of a novation agreement with the M&E sub-contractor.Responsibilities include aiding in the production of detailed design information for the fire alarm and security drawings., alterations to the Amtech calculations and production of lighting calculations in Relux.

Royal National Institute for the Blind , Vision School CoventryContract Value £29mM&E Value £4m

This is a large project consisting of 10 single story domestic buildings, a school, admin block and a facilities management building. This is a great project to be involved with at such an early stage in my career as there is a variety of different buildings which has stretch my knowledge of the British Standards for the different environments.Responsibilities included coordination of electrical and Mechanical drawings. Production of detailed design drawings and supporting calculations. Attendance at site meetings, manufacture meetings. Keeping the QA file up to data with

relevant up to date information following any changes that may occur. Cost control of the project in reference to the design fee allocated to the different sections of the design. Effective time management of the electrical design team to ensure all work is completed on time and to budget. All project queries from the architect or main Electrical contractor. Keeping the Fee proposals up to date. Organisation of the design change request spreadsheet.

Essington Care Homes – Contract Value £3mM&E Value £1mClient P&R Morson

This is a large elderly care home with 66 apartments, hairdressers, kitchens, lounges and libraries. This was a good project to vary my experience in design work.Responsibilities include all detailed design drawings working under a very tight time constraint. Ensure coordination all of the drawings with the mechanical drawings, to overcome potential clashes of equipment prior to the installation stage, manufacture liaisons and calculations to back up all detailed design drawings.

Client: The Manchester CollegeIs a refurbishment of an existing college in the Didsbury area of Manchester. The first floor will be for the RNIB centre of Excellence within the Northwest. This project also won the RICS Design and Innovation award in 2011. Responsibilities include lighting Design, Small power and data design. All design calculations. Fire alarm and security design. External services design including external lighting and CCTV. Containment design. On site design guidance with the Electrical contractor to overcome any potential site clashes or problems. Manufacture liaison to ensure smooth operation of services and buying of equipment. Management of the electrical contractor on site to ensure the project runs smoothly and on time.

Designing of the two Demo rooms for the college, these rooms are to be installed with all of the technology that will be installed in the rest of the college but before the main buildings have been completed to give the teachers an idea of what the new classrooms will be like when the project is completed. My responsibilities have been to attend design team meetings, then produce detailed tender drawings and schematics for all of the electrical services within the demo rooms. Cable and lighting calculations to support the detailed drawings. Coordination all of the drawings with the mechanical drawings, to overcome potential clashes of equipment prior to the installation stage.

Stockport College Phase 2 – This project is the redevelopment of Blocks G,H,I,J and part of the new build being blocks K and L.Within this design package I produced the electrical lighting and daylight calculations, then updated the distribution board schedules following the design revision updated drawings. By utilising the design intent information for the drawings I sized all of the sub mains and main installation cables using AMTECH,. Finally production of all of the lighting drawings and Relux calculations.

Rochdale Road Phase 2 Contract Value £6.5m

Client: The Manchester CollegeIs a redevelopment of an old Grade 2 listed Victorian swimming baths into an education building within the Harpurhey district of Greater Manchester.My responsibilities on the project included production all of the electrical tender drawings including the containment, power and data, lighting, fire, security and lightning protection drawings. To analyses and produce a detailed schematics of the design intent information. Create all of the electrical calculations associated with the drawings. Production of coordinated mechanical and electrical drawings for the risers and the studios.

Manchester Settlement Contract Value £1.7mM&E Value £700,000

Client: MANCAT / Mosscare / Manchester SettlementIs a mixed use facility combining classroom and office space within the same building. It has been designed to achieve a BREEAM status of (very good) which includes the use of passive ventilation throughout. This project won a Bronze Rose in the Rose Design awards 2009. The project also made the short list for the Regional Royal Institute of British Architecture Awards 2010.Responsibilities were to attend design team and site meetings, to coordinate the electrical installation onsite, liaise with manufacturers and to update the drawings as and when necessary for coordination purposes.
