International Fibre Art Symposium January 1999. The Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig in County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland is inviting artists from the whole island of Ireland and from abroad who work in fibre media to apply for places on the International Fibre Arts Symposium that will take place for two weeks in January 1999.

All board and lodging expenses for the two weeks will be paid for the selected artists. They will subsequently be invited to submit work for an exhibition of the best of the 1998, 1999 and 2000 sympo­siums, to be shown in Ireland, on the continent of Europe and in North America from late 2000.

For the 1999 International Fibre Arts Synposium at Annaghmakerrig we are looking for artists who are working in original and inventive ways with fibre materials of all sorts. Interested appli­cants are asked to send us an up-to-date curriculum vitae and 6 slides of their work for selection before 31 st August 1998.

Focal Point National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham (September 1998) Focal Point has negotiated the extension of its specialised design area for 1998. This enables the participation of a con­siderable number of new, small and inno­vative firms in Focal Point at this Autumn Fair.

WCC Europe Press Release -European Prize for Contemporary Art and Design-Led Crafts 1998 "The die is cast" The die is cast and the winners of the first European Prize for Contemporary Art and Design-led Crafts in 1998 are now definite. The six winners are:
