Welcome to the last week of Term 1! As we wind down and close off a very busy Term 1, we can take time to reflect on activities during the term. We would like to thank all students and parents for their efforts in making the school photographs take place so effortlessly last week. We would also like to thank all parents and carers who participated in Primary interviews, feedback on the new interview process that includes dis-cussion on a personalised learning plan and goal setting was also very positive. We have to thank the P & C for running a very successful Easter Disco last Friday night, this was well supported by primary students and the Easter Egg Hunt was outstanding. On Thursday everyone is eagerly awaiting our annual Easter Hat parade and Picnic, which will commence at 12.00 pm. In closing I wish everyone a happy and safe school holiday and an enjoyable Easter break. If anyone is travelling please take care and we hope to see everyone back at school refreshed and ready for a great Term 2. ANZAC Day This year ANZAC Day will be on Thursday, 25 April 2019 and will be commemo-rated during the second week of the school holidays, in Darlington Point. I would encourage all students to attend the march and represent the school on the day. Students, in full school uniform relevant to the weather, will assemble near Rivadestra at 10.40 am and the march will commence at 11.00 am. School Captains will also lay a wreath, with speeches from Darlington Point Public School captains. Staff will be present to assist with supervision during the march. Primary Reports At the end of this week parents and carers of Primary students will receive a ‘Student Effort’ Report. This is a new initiative this year to improve our reporting to parents and carers. This does not replace the Semester One and Two student achievement reports, but is aimed to provide information to par-ents on how their child is settling into new classes, routines and teachers this year. Primary Industries Today the Stage 6 Primary Industries students and Mrs Fattore will depart on their excursion to participate in the Sydney Royal Easter Show Commercial Pig Competition. Students have been very dedicated in preparing the pigs for the competition, which is judged by experts from the pig industry and consists of three components; Presentation (pigs are judged on weight, temperament and market suitability), Carcase (carcases are judged to commercial standards) and a Project Component where students are asked to detail how the pigs were raised and prepared for the Show. Good luck and have a great time in Sydney!

K-12 Sport Next term we have two major events on the K-12 Sporting calendar. At the very beginning of the term (Week 1) on Friday, 3 May 2019 students will participate in the annual K-12 Cross Country. Students will walk the course earlier in the week and are covered by the General Permission Note for this activity. The K-12 Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday, 24 May 2019. As usual a number of field events will be held at the school during Sport. We are looking forward to seeing lots of parents attending these events to support students. School Learning Support Officers As part of a number of school programs, the school employs a number of School Learning Support Officers, or SLSO’s as they are often referred to. Naturally, at times staff are absent due to illness or while attending profes-sional learning. The school is seeking to create a pool of casual SLSO staff who can be called to fill positions if they are available on a day to day basis. Please see the advertisement attached to this week’s newsletter. Book Fair In Week 4 of Term 2 the annual Book Fair will be held in the School Library. As part of the week’s activities Pri-mary students will participate in National Simultaneous Story Time on Wednesday, 22 May 2019. Details on the Book Fair will be distributed early next term. Start of Term 2 Please note that students return to school on Tuesday, 30 April 2019. Monday, 29 April 2019 is designated as a School Development Day and all staff will be participating in professional development activities at the school. Until next Term,
Timothy Allen
Principal
Easter Hat Parade
On Thursday, 11th April, from 12pm to 1.20pm, we will be having our annual Easter Hat
Parade. The children will be allowed to wear mufti for that event. If the parents would be kind
enough to donate an Easter egg or Easter gift towards the P&C Raffle, it would
be greatly appreciated. The prize will be drawn during the parade. Easter hats
will be made by the children during class time.
P&C Raffle
Well it’s almost Easter again, each Easter the P & C run a raffle
with Easter products donated by parents, so it would be great if
your child could bring in an Easter treat and drop it into the
office where we will collect it and put a hamper together.
Thanking you
Global Dress Up Day
Pink Stumps Day
By Millar and Tayla
On Friday 5th April the whole Coleambally Central
School went to the town oval for a whole lot of fun
playing cricket all afternoon to support ladies with
Breast Cancer.
Everyone looked fantastic in their pink outfits.
Everyone was encouraging each other also
keeping in mind that in each team there would be
a most valuable player. Each MVP received a
McGrath Foundation bandana.
After the MVP’s were announced they presented
the lolly jar competition. No one guessed it but Mrs
Rossato was the closest.
Thank you everyone who participated. Have a
great last week of school.
