As some people may be aware, the

Archbishop of Perth, the Most Reverend

Timothy Costelloe, recently launched

the consultation phase of a plan for the

Archdiocese. This plan is titled “The Way

Forward” and is an attempt to consult

as widely as possible with the Catholic

community about the future direction of

the Archdiocese.

As members of the Church, it is important

that your voice is heard and clearly

represented in the consultation process.

You can contribute to the process by

completing an individual online survey at

www.perthcatholic.org.au which is open

from 10 September until 16 October. Your

participation can be fully anonymous if

you prefer, or demographic data can be

captured as part of your registration. The

survey will cover seven key priority areas

that you have the option of responding to:

• Professional standards

• Effective communication

• Outreach to those in need

• Strengthening and revitalising parishes

• Support for Clergy

• Adult faith formation

• Archdiocesan growth and development.

As the Archbishop wrote in his introductory

letter to this consultation:

“I ask that you join me, as we recommit

ourselves to the exciting vocation of being a

people who walk together in the footsteps

of Jesus the Good Shepherd.”

Athletics

On Wednesday of this week our school

Athletics team competed with distinction

in the ‘A’ Division of the ACC Carnival at

the State Athletics Stadium. Competition

at this level is understandably intense

and our boys performed very well all day.

Congratulations to all of our athletes and

their coaches on representing the College

in fine style.

I am particularly pleased that many of our

young men have again been reminded

of the value of hard work and seeking to

do their best. In addition to their solid

performance as a team, there were

some outstanding individual efforts.

More information can be found in the

Newsroom on the College website.

Year 10 Social

After a succession of Friday afternoons

spent perfecting their dance steps and

etiquette, our Year 10 boys will attend

their Social with the young ladies of Iona

tonight. An enjoyable evening of social

interaction and counting under their

breath is anticipated! Thank you to all

of the staff who have coordinated the

lessons and who will attend tonight.

Throughout this term, the Year 10 students

have been participating in Ballroom

Dancing Lessons with the young ladies

from Iona Presentation College.

The lessons have been very successful

and the boys have gained valuable social

experience as well as becoming proficient

at dancing. The lessons will culminate with

a Year 10 Social to be held at Iona College

on Friday 18 September. The students will

be able to ‘perform’ their newly acquired

dancing steps and mix socially in

a supervised setting. Experience tells

us that, after the first tentative and shy

steps, the boys and girls always have a

very enjoyable time.

The Iona girls have offered to organise

decorations and light snacks for the

Year 10 Social Evening reminderevening while the boys have been asked

to provide drinks. Mr Williams has kindly

offered to organise the drinks on the

boys’ behalf.
